Shoplifters taking TVs kill Sears 81-year-old guard

An 81-year-old Sears guard was killed by two men who were allegedly stealing televisions in South Carolina.

Duaine Hamilton, 81, attempted to stop two men from stealing two 49-inch TVs from the store when they shoved him down.

Hamilton, an Air Force veteran, tried to stand in their way to stop them when they knocked him to the ground on August 23. Hamilton hit is head on the concrete in the fall.

The suspects ran from the store, according to deputies. Hamilton was taken to the hospital and put on life support, but he passed away last Saturday.

  1. 81, didn't this guy ever hear of retirement?
This is why young people can't get good paying jobs, it is because old people are still working hogging the jobs. If they retired, than a young person could be hired and fill that job.

    1. Yeah 12:16
If they hired these two they could have stopped an 81 year old unemployed man from stealing a TV and no one would have been hurt.

    2. They have to hire the older people because too many younger people seem to feel self entitled like the world owes them something. If you have time to go protest and cause trouble , you have time to work. How many jobs are lost because simple minded fools go bust up or burn businesses during the protesting? This man deserved his job because he was willing and able to do it. He didn't deserve what happened to him.

  2. "Passed away" doesn't describe a victim's death by violence.

  3. If he hadn't died he would have been fired for trying to stop them in violation of company policies. He went out with his boots on, we should all be so lucky.

  4. They hire older people because they are responsible employees. When the young person gets a job they don't or won't even come to work half of the time.

  5. 12:16, this is one of the most asinine remarks I've ever seen on here in all the years. I won't even get into a pissing contest with such stupidity.

This act of violence is as low as it gets.

Bless the family of Mr. Hamilton. Thank you for the service you provided us sir and R.I.P.

  6. Older folks have to work because social security payments are not enough to pay the bills. All you young folks better start saving your money because retirement doesn't exist. You will work until the day you die.?

  7. He is right though, employment for the next generation has to happen, and older people staying on the job well after they should have left, is keeping our next generation living off their parents.
Many will not retire because they have no hobbies, or can't stand the idea of being home with their spouse 24/7.

  8. Maybe the 81 year old needed to work. Maybe they their spouse got sick and drained their savings. It could be all types of things. It is their life and if they want to keep working it really is no ones business.

  9. Young guy here, I got $60,000 student debt, a degree, and can't get hired locally because the old farts that should retire won't. Lady in one HR office told me there are men working here that could make more if they stayed home, collecting their pension, and social security. Old guys like to hang out with their buddies at work, and afraid to retire.
