Federal judges decline to scrap Maryland’s congressional voting map
Federal judges on Thursday declined to throw out Maryland’s congressional voting map that challengers say was intentionally designed to give Democrats an electoral edge.
The 2-to-1 decision allows the state to maintain those voting boundaries for the 2018 election and puts the lawsuit on hold until after the Supreme Court has ruled in a similar partisan gerrymandering case from Wisconsin scheduled for October.
The challenge in Maryland centers on the 6th Congressional District in Western Maryland that was redrawn to include parts of heavily Democratic Montgomery County. The plaintiffs say the state’s Democratic leaders violated their First Amendment rights by diluting the number of Republican voters and ensuring that a Democrat would win.

Judges must be democrats
ReplyDeleteIt was already publicly admitted to by a former Democratic governor that the Maryland gerrymandering was created to give an advantage to Democratic candidates.
ReplyDeleteFolks, this is way more important than Beer Tax distraction story. Remember this - All 3 Federal Judges acknowledged plaintiffs had Convincing Evidence that the state's Democratic leaders Intended to make it easier for Their Party to pick up another Congressional seat. But 2 out of 3 judges decided IT WAS NOT ENOUGH and rejected the request to scrap the state's electoral map because as they said: "it would cause unprecedented disruption" in Maryland legislature before the 2018 election and "it would confuse the voters" WTH! Really?! It would confuse the voters? And it would disrupt Democ-rats way of doing things in Annapolis, nah, can't have that, right? And Nah, we cant disrupt that Blue Swamp in Annapolis, heck, business as usual, right? We the People, already know who the Crooks are, there is no confusion about it. But of course MSM will be hiding this story. Don't want to "confuse" those "uninformed voters" from their manufactured fake news. And Sheeple keeps cheering.

ReplyDeleteHope they take it En Banc or the Supremes.
Districts should follow established political divisions; best choice is probably counties first and if population warrants then to cities and other municipalities within county (Montgomery County might have two Reps while Garret and Washington share one).
