Car falls on customer at Georgetown-area salvage yard

Salisbury man killed after jack is dislodged

A 41-year-old Maryland man was killed Aug. 8 when a vehicle fell on him as he was trying to remove a part at Donovan Salvage Works Inc. north of Georgetown.

The Salisbury man, whose name has not been released, had used a jack to raise the vehicle while he tried to remove a part, and used a spare tire underneath as a buffer, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of Delaware State Police.

  1. They expected me to remove parts like this. They put cars up on fork lifts to remove parts while standing right under them, no safety at all in regards to the workers.

  4. Why would a customer be under a car at a business? Seems to me that would be a major liability
issue for the owner. Hope they have good insurance!
