A Viewer Writes: Pemberton Park

We walk several times a week. Run into the same people also walking. Came upon this and was told by a gentleman, that it has been that way for a long time. He has complained to several entities, and nothing has been done. Are they waiting for someone to be killed trying to get around it, when it falls on them? What's the problem? Doesn't the park service own a chain saw? Woodland Trail, Pemberton Park.

  1. Put a chain link fence around it then it will noticed by officials.

  2. Just a bit over dramatic on the "get killed by it" but it should be cleaned up within a reasonable amount of time.

BTW, who did you contact about it?

  3. Do you think maybe road damage is first on the list, recreational walking trails come later?

    1. That would be true, if they actually fixed roads!

  4. Submit a ticket through the county website. Post the results.

  5. Just idea but walk around it. No doubt they voted clinton.

  6. 9:59 AM Hmm a tree falling on you and killing you is over dramatic? I think not.

    1. But the tree is already on the ground isn't it?

  7. 10:01 AM There is no road damage in the park. Roads division has nothing to do with Parks division. And they have had 6 months to fix this and have not. What was your point again?

  8. You use the trails more than most, take a saw and get some exercise cleaning it up yourself.

    1. I completely agree. Get together with other trail walkers and get it done.

  9. 11:33 AM Hmm didn't my taxpayer dollars pay for the luxury to have someone else do it - one who gets a paycheck from my taxpayer dollars?

    And your point was?

  10. 10:50 AM Stupid comment of the day. I guess if we all could we would. I got an idea. you go out there and see it for yourself. The fresh air will help regenerate some new brain cells.

  11. If you took time to write this, you probably have time to grab a saw and do it yourself. Maybe the park rangers don't walk along that path.

  12. Simple remedy, just bring a chainsaw with you whenever you visit the park and feel free to cut up the fallen limbs and push them to the side of the path. Not big pieces, just small pieces, they're easier to push/pull.

  14. I bet if Lewis and Clark came upon this obstacle they would have turned around and headed for home.

  15. It's a public park and not the spot for DIY chainsaw practice or attempts. DIY types could be injured and without anyone around to assist.

Pic and perhaps a GPS tag should be directed to Park office or Parks Dept. for remedy.

They may have volunteer opportunities so inquire.

  16. 2:49 PM they have already been told.. DO you people know how to read?

  17. 4:10 PM No it is not. It split and it hanging/attached to part of the trunk still standing. Hence the hazard. If it slips as it ages and someone is crawling under it to get past it, and it falls off, it will squash the person.

If you look at the photo you will see the right side is still elevated.

  18. My wife and I have gone over/under it. It's on the woodland (think that's the name) trail. The termites have taken it over so badly you can hear them inside and can watch the sawdust falling. This tree is an inconvenience but certainly not a hazard.
If you are so upset by it fix it yourself. That's the only way things get done anymore anyway.

  19. 6:50 PM Liar. If what you say is true then you would know the size of it and that it isn't a matter of simply moving it out of the way. another moron. I guess if we were physically able to do that we would have.

I hope it doesn't fall on your head next time you are crawling under it. Hope your wife is strong enough to heave it off ya.

  20. NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED............Be careful you may be doing a good deed by taking a chainsaw to help the park but it could turn into someone had a chainsaw and you could end up in jail! They might not ask why you are at the park with a chainsaw....... JUST OFF TO JAIL YOU GO!

  21. The parks dept has plenty of staff with nothing to do, maybe one of them could clean this mess up before heading to royal farms, wawa, or the liquor store this morning
