Wicomico County Road Paving Set to Begin

Wicomico County has budgeted $4.5 Million for repaving County roads in fiscal year 2018 (July 1 - June 30), a $500,000 increase over last year's budget. This year's repaving includes 54 miles of tar & chip surface treatment, 41 miles of slurry seal surface treatment, and 24 miles of hot mix asphalt pavement for a total of 119 miles. The list of roads in this year's schedule, as well as a description of the various surface treatments, can be found on the Wicomico County Public Works website at http://www.wicomicocounty.org/631/Road-Repair. As a rule of thumb, the type of surface treatment a road receives is based on the volume of traffic on the road. The majority of the work will begin in the fall. Roads Division crews will be out between now and then stabilizing shoulders, rehabilitating ditches, and replacing cross road pipes in preparation for the repaving activities.

Please contact the Public Works Roads Division at 410-548-4872 with any questions.

  1. Thats aprox 37815.12 per mile...cpl tho in stone, cpl in tar, cpl in fuel and labor..

about 30,000 a mile to much. Tell ma again, at this price tag, nearly every year....why the heck dont we the county already own the equipment capable to do these jobs at cost rather than giving our hard earned tax money to over priced contractors?!?!?!

  2. Contacted County Roads, Dept. Head, two years ago about ditch bank erosion at cross over pipe on Phillips Road and all they have done is spray a broken line across road which is just about invisible from being wore off. Have notified the postal person not to drive near it for possible of turning over their vehicle. So who else do you contact?

    1. You have to contact Jake day and get bureau of statistics numbers on ditch bank erosion, the statistics on probability of a postal vehicle rolling over if ditch bank gives way, then let him get in touch with Bob Culver and hash our some sort of bogus agreement that the county or city won't be liable for a federal government employee and property being harmed

  3. Corporations get these bids and over-charge for the work.
Then, they make it take far too long.

This will take months to complete.

  4. Noticed North Camden Ave from approximately from Clyde Avenue to Main Street in Fruitland is not on the list. Camden Ave is a heavily traveled road from rt 13 to rt 50.

    1. Maybe it is on Fruitland's list since it is their road.
