San Francisco to pay $190G to undocumented immigrant over sanctuary law violation, lawyer says

A man from El Salvador in the U.S. illegally who sued San Francisco after police turned him over to immigration authorities in violation of the city's sanctuary law is set to be awarded $190,000, his attorney said Thursday.

Pedro Figueroa-Zarceno, 33, reached the settlement agreement with the city attorney's office, said Saira Hussain, a staff attorney at the Asian Law Caucus who represented Zarceno. The agreement must be approved by the Board of Supervisors.

“It’s really important for San Francisco to remain a sanctuary city not in name only but also in practice,” Hussain told The San Francisco Examiner. “Our hope is that the department is going to look into this further and really examine the way that the department can do more."

  1. "Undocumented", aka, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT! He deserves nothing other than a stay in the county slammer and a one-way ticket back to his country. If he wants to be an American then do it the right way. This is bravo-sierra in the Nth degree!

  9. So your here illegally, you are breaking the law, and you get rewarded for intentionally breaking the law. How can the court system ever be able to convict lawbreakers when laws are ignored and rewarded.

  10. I don't recognize this Country any longer.
But please don't ask me to leave the Country in which I was born and move to Iran.
I'm not saying I prefer Iran, or any other country.
I've never been to another country.
But I hate this government and the evil society it is creating on purpose.

Please don't ask me to leave.

  14. California is the most liberal state in the U.S. But this is beyond ridiculous. Paying an illegal because he was turned over to immigration authorities. If California pays this lawsuit they should be voted out of the United States. In my opinion, if you are illegal you should have no rights. Constitutional rights are for Americans, not illegal immigrants. All illegals should be deported. No rights to illegal criminals.

  15. That's all these illegal want to do. Come to this country illegally. Use our constitution against us through lawsuits. Then allow their wives with these anchor baby to clean up through all government assistance programs. The best way to destroy this country is not with military power but with financial default. They are trying to destroy our financial system.
