Executive Culver Sets The Record Straight On Fire Station 1 Issue With Boy Mayor Jake Day

WICOMICO COUNTY EXECUTIVE BOB CULVER’S RESPONSE TO SALISBURY MAYOR JAKE DAY’S RECENT COMMENT TO THE DAILY TIMES ON JULY 3, 2017

In Monday’s Daily Times, Mayor Jake Day made a shocking statement to the press about the new arrangement between the City and my office concerning Station 1’s territory changes. He said we are still using the same boundaries from before, which have been “used for years” – contrary to a May article where he affirms his agreement to “willingly give up part of Station 1’s territory.” Additionally, in the attached April 25 th email to our office from the City, he outlines our discussion on this issue, clearly confirming our agreement. Like you, I am confused as to why he would make such a misleading comment to the press now after everything was settled.

I am deeply disappointed in the Mayor’s apparent attempt to renege on a deal I considered to be a closed matter. Therefore, in light of this, Wicomico County has no choice but to look closer at future agreements with the City to avoid this type of miscommunication from occurring again as it only confuses our residents whom have concerns about such matters.

  5. Just like I heard before on here, the city lying again. Whenever city officials mouths moves there is a lie flowing. Grimy crooked politicians. Hold him to it Bob Culver, don't lat them lie out of what he agreed on.

  6. Jake Day lying again? Who knew? Jake is a snake in the grass. He's bad news and always has been. The silly thing is anyone thinking he was anything but.

  7. John Cannon and Jake Day are buddies, they are teaming up on Bob Culver cause they want Cannon as County Executive. Then the behind the door deals can be made. Seems to me that with the amount or rental properties in the city that Cannon would be a conflict of interest ad to his business dealings with the city. What a disaster it would be to have those two at the helm. I don't believe it would be a healthy relationship for the taxpayers. If John Cann was decent he'd stay where he is and not run for county executive. That would be the ethical thing.

  8. Boy Day, what a joke for mayor, lying crybaby. I grew up with him what a spoiled brat. Never worked for anything. His daddy gave him everything and still is. Tell us Jake, what business have you run ? Yet he thinks he can run a city. So far he sux ! Don't have balls enough to fire that worthless fire chief for destroying a department which has run well for over 130 years. Now it's in shambles. Crime rate in Salisbury is out of control, drugs and gang activity rampant. And wants to fill it with section 8 homes. He's a loser and Salisbury is losing because the captain of the ship can't be a failure.

  9. 8:14 has Cannon ever been ethical? No... he will do what ever he has to to better himself and his slumlord business. He is trying to get his ducks in a row for votes. He is already setting the stage. He is already starting his smear campaign and putting out falsehoods to turn people against Culver. and yes you hit the nail on the head with Cannon being buddies with Day. If only Cannon could get elected into CE, He and Jakie can rule the bury and the county! just remember you heard it here first!

  12. I have witnessed John Cannon and some council members bad mouth Bob Culver, they are doing their best to discredit him, and portray him as a fool. He's really very business oriented. It's time this county was run like a business rather than the political cluster fu&$ that is going on now. The council wants to look good by reducing property taxes 1% in FY 18 budget. Well stand by and get ready for FY 19 when they sock it to you to make up for lost revenue. But by then elections are over and you get what they say you get. All political bs. And trying to run Bob Culver ouf by political bs. It makes me sick, as I thought these were decent folk I used to look up to.

    1. You said it. The total package is really unchanged. Branches of government embracing nepotism in support of their political jockeying. The taxpaying citizen is still screwed just by a different cast of characters. They are all in fear of losing their positions so they hire friends and "yes men" to do their bidding. And there is never a shortage of yes men. Only when consideration and committment to competence and character prevail wilh you get any different outcome.

  15. Yes volunteers do the job with heart. If only these turds did it with heart when they were asked to this mess wouldn't be going on in my opinion. As for Culver he stumbles all over both sides of the fence like a drunk walking a straight line.

  18. Cannon can change the county boundaries, as Pollitt did regarding Naylor Mill Rd. Polliitt gave it to the city so they would get the tax benefits from the business's that built there.
The money that the county gave the "volunteer" Salisbury Stations were used to by equipment and apparatus for those stations. So it belongs to the volunteers. When Station 2 tried to leave the second time the city changed their rules and made them hand over everything, which is wrong. Jake and Hoppes are worthless and Breaker helped create this fiasco. And I don't care what Hoppes says Breaker fave his biased opinions when the city and county had that study done.

  19. We will be peaceably assembling to exercise our First Amendment Right to protest against a petition brought forth to our city council by James Yamakawa with SURJ, a radical progressive left wing sub group of Black Lives Matter, who started a petition to remove a Confederate Civil War plaque in Salisbury, MD.. simply because it is " located close to a courthouse where slaves were treated unjust and the plaque represents White supremecy." This group is race baiting and spreading false information in order to further their leftist agendas and division in our community. We will be standing in solidarity as we let our voices and our over 540+ counter petition votes to be seen and heard by our media and city government officals in this matter. We the People can not continue to sit idly by while a handful of people wish to alter and remove our history, simply because they deem it to be offensive. We condemn all racism, in any form. Our Historical markers should stand and not moved or removed, as they are historically accurate and do not promote white supremecy in any shape or form. It is our right as Americans, to discuss and to interpret our American history and to preserve it for future generations. We implore our council members and our county executive and delegates to help us in this fight to preserve our freedoms from such attacks here in Salisbury and in Maryland. Please being your American flags and signs and join us in front of the old courthouse Saturday, July 8th at 1:00 pm as we stand for freedom... we need as many people as possible to show. If you love our country, but are tired of watching as it is being slowly eroded away by liberal aggression, now is the time to stand. We need you. Join us! 20. and Jakey supports and signed that petition to have that marker removed. So that should tell all of you where he stands! In my opinion he should not have given an opinion at all. He is or supposed to be the Mayor for all of Salisbury but apparently he isn't. He stands with the progressive. This in itself speaks volumes, or should. So keep that in mind if it ever comes in question of where you think Jakey stands on things. It's not with you but everybody has to have their piece of the 5 minutes of fame!

You think Rick Hoppes is a fire chief? He wouldn't make a pimple on a real fire chief's ass. Rick Hoppes has never been a fire chief, never been a fire fighter and never been an ambulance provide. Now he was an ambulance driver. I know for a fact that Rick Hoppes is so dumb he failed the National Registry Intermediate Paramedic test so he just gave up his state CRT when he got promoted. That is the only reason he wanted it. He never ever rode in the back of an ambulance and done patient care. He has experience at kissing supervisors butts starting with Chief Brezler who promoted him. Then he sucked up to David See and got promoted again. Nothing but worthless Pieces of Sh!t. All of them.

  24. Yes John Cannon is suck up buddies to the Boi Mare. The Boi Mare were guests of honor at John Cannon's wedding. What do they have in common? You know they are scheming! They are up to no good.

  25. The agreement is signed, sealed and delivered so there's no be-back on this one. Day is obligated by contractual law to honor it regardless of whether he's got on cold feet or wants to prime for his paid firefighter voters. Day just seems like a lie-a-minute kind of guy.

  28. Lets look at the credentials of all the fire officers in the city / county. Should there be certian levels of training and skill sets to be an officer at any level? Why does the county not require this? Should we let Joe anybody be an officer because the good ole boy system allows it?

    1. Go-ahead and question station 14 or station 5 or station 11 or any station . Cause most of them would control a scene alot better than half the paid guys . They show respect to dispatch unlike Salisbury and they don't need 25 company's for 1 fire .
