WASHINGTON — May saw a drop in the unemployment rate in Maryland while it stayed the same in Virginia.
Maryland’s unemployment rate fell from 4.3 percent in April to 4.2 percent in May, which is also down from 4.3 percent in May of last year. The unemployment rate in Virginia stayed at 3.8 percent, but it is down from 4.0 percent from on year ago.
The District’s unemployment rate ticked up in May from 5.9 percent to 6 percent.

ReplyDeleteTo 1:31 Poster - I agree wholeheartedly. The 'deck is stacked' because as each unemployment benefit claimant fall out of the system (as a result of exhausting the benefit's amount) the unemployment rate will fall naturally.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the person or persons may still be unemployed and thus is not included in the employment base number used by the unemployment office.
So it is a lie - plain and simple.
