BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore sees multiple deadly shootings in just a matter of hours. It was a burst of violence that forced the commissioner to make a drastic move today.
All uniformed officers will be on mandatory 12-hour shifts, as the city hustles to control the crime.
Ava-joye Burnett reports the violence spilled over from the night into broad daylight today.
After a violent night, the police department announced a plan on how to address this problem, as the Police Commissioner was angered by the violence.
The violence in Baltimore started Monday evening and lasted through the night. It spilled over into the middle of Tuesday and by the end of it all, at least 12 people had been shot and at least six dead.

So my guess here is this, tired cops will be a deterrent to the shooting sprees. I'm sure that by the time that most of the officers get done with paperwork on a daily basis that they are close to twelve hours. This will push it back further and in turn, will increase officer turn-over.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
ReplyDeleteI thought they were talking about Salisbury.
ReplyDeleteBaltimore doesn't support their police so why don't they just shut down the police dept and let the thugs have at it?
ReplyDelete11:10....what do you think is happening now? lol.....

DeleteIt's time for Governor Hogan to call a state of emergency and move in the National Guard for a period of time. Obviously the Baltimore Police, and city government can't get a handle on the situation. Per capita Baltimore's murder rate is higher than Chicago. It is one of the top 5 deadliest cities in the US. And Maryland tax payers are footing the bill for all this extra police protection. Lets not forget Baltimore can't pay their own bills so the state has to bail them out.
ReplyDeleteHuh...this would be something if.... Hey we haven't had a Marilyn Mosby sighting in weeks. Wonder if Nick finally put the clamps on his wife?
ReplyDeleteWell time will tell and its coming up on SUMMERTIME in Charmed City!
This is a very bad decision. No where has 12 hour shifts worked in Law enforcement / Corrections. It complicates everything and Officers are not as alert. They will be less observant this will increase crime. It also destroys Officers health and they will not get enough sleep. They are doing this because they are not recruiting enough staff while putting the ones they have lives in increased danger.
