McDermott starts campaign for Worcester County sheriff
Mike McDermott, former mayor of Pocomoke City and a former member of the Maryland House of Delegates, announced last Thursday that he is running for Worcester County sheriff.
“This is the most heartfelt office I’ve sought. It took a lot encouragement from my wife, Laura, to get me to the podium tonight,” McDermott said during his campaign kick-off event at the Atlantic Hotel in Berlin. “She knows about the cost of this, and Laura said ‘you don’t want to be sitting back and asking what if.’”
McDermott has been in law enforcement for 36 years, starting in North Carolina. He later moved to Pocomoke City with his family in 1988, after he joined the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office.
Since then, he’s almost done it all, State’s Attorney Beau Oglesby said during his introduction of McDermott.

Step 1: lose some weight and stop looking like a slop neck. You're embarrassing to the sheriff's office
ReplyDeleteWhat is the status of the current sheriff? Is Reggie Mason stepping down or is he going to be running, too. There is no mention of this in the article. If Reggie is NOT stepping down, it seems awkward for the State's Attorney to be introducing Mike. Anyone have any info?
ReplyDeleteReggie is retiring, he deserves to since he is almost 70 years old. I don't know about Reggie himself, but his family is definitely NOT supporting McDermott.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, have not seen anything in his career that would make me support him for sheriff. Let's see who else runs for the office.
ReplyDeleteWe live in Worcester County and will definitely vote for Mr. McDermott. Some of the ugly comments against him are from people who are Democrat, don't vote or don't live in Worcester County, ha,ha.

You are a rude Son of a Bitch. Who the Hell are you to tell someone what to do with their lives? How do you know what kind of medical condition this individual has?? I have a serious health problem and I gained 60lbs in a month and now I have been diagnosed with a form of thyroid cancer.
Since you are an anonymous coward on here making fun of Delegate McDermott I hope that you are diagnosed with cancer this coming week and your days are numbered.
That is some cold blooded sh1t!
Delete11:20 You are worse than the person you are cursing.
DeleteGood luck with that attitude and your cancer!

This isn't something new. If it concerns you then you should look it up on your own.

Reggie is not supporting Mike, but that doesn't mean that Mike isn't the best man for the job. Mike is also the most qualified and experienced man for the job. Mike has leadership experience where his opponent has none, nada! Mike's opponent is just a deputy and not deserving of the Sheriff's job, Mike McDermott is.

Are you serious?? You are just showing your ignorance because he is even more qualified for the Sheriff than Reggie Mason ever was.
As a matter of fact to show your bias and ignorance there already is an opponent. Move along Cup Cake, you are now irrelevant!

You are one hundred percent correct. I live in Wicomico County and I have already financially supported Sheriff McDermott. Although he is in Worcester, what happens in Worcester ultimately affects it's sister state Wicomico County.
McDermott did a great job when in the House of Delegates. I recall a weekly update on this site of what was happening up the road. I voted for McDermott when he ran against the O.C. subject. I am in Wicomico County and wish I could vote for McDermott again, but will support him where possible.
ReplyDeleteWhat did he accomplish when he was in the House? Don't recall him doing anything other than his weekly updates.
ReplyDeleteNeither of the two candidates for Worcester County Sheriff are originally from Worcester County.
ReplyDeleteAny idea who else might run? There has to be a better option than these two.
ReplyDelete5:30, it is on video and you-tube. Do the research yourself, I'm not doing it for you.
ReplyDeleteHe is a straight up politician, and looking at his history he goes from town to town, and I don't want to politician to be my sheriff
