Maryland heroin dealer charged with involuntary manslaughter

Chris Jones has been searching for a way to express her grief after losing her son Brandon to a drug overdose.

"The worst of my life, words can’t describe what it’s been like," she said.

It's been seven months, but she has found a new friend in Sheriff Gary Hofmann.

"Anytime we have someone in the county that has an overdose, we’re looking at who supplied them with that narcotic and if we can determine who supplied that narcotic I’ve made a promise that we are going to come after that person and charge them with the actually crime," Hofmann said.

And he has come through on that promise... twice.

For the second time in a few months someone has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of an overdose. Police say Nathan Johnson sold Brandon Roe the heroin that killed Roe.

    1. Wrong, there are those that have bought it, shot up with a friend or family member and is now locked up for involuntary manslaughter. That's right they now have a DOC number.

  5. 7:04 exactly! Also, most low level dealers are addicts. Time to stop the major push coming over the border.

  6. Refreshing to see the good sheriff on the job. Even if comments say he can't do it, turn him loose on them. That's why the judges sit in the high seat. Yea or nah, at least try to curb illegal acts. Glad we have "The Donald" to back them up.

  7. It should be second degree murder. You knowingly sell an illegal drug that has the likelihood to cause injury or death.

  8. Selling the drug is a felony. Deaths resulting from felonies are murder after the fact.
