Judicial Watch: Clinton Knowingly Used Unsecure Device After Being Warned

(CNSNews.com) – The legal watchdog group Judicial Watch on Thursday submitted new evidence to a U.S. District Court showing that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used an unsecure Blackberry phone after being warned of the risk of doing so by “security hawks.”

The newly released Clinton email was sent to Susan Kennedy, the chief of staff to former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

On March 7, 2009, Kennedy wrote to newly minted Secretary of State Clinton: “Just in case you are still allowed to carry your blackberry, your friends are watching with great pride.”

Clinton responded the following day: “Against the advice of the security hawks, I still do carry my berry but am prohibited from using it in my office, where I spend most of my time when I’m not on a plane or in a ‘no coverage’ country.”

(According to the State Department, Clinton met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov while visiting Geneva, Switzerland March 6–7, 2009. She traveled to Turkey on later on March 7, the final stop of her overseas tour.)

Judicial Watch said the email exchange confirms that Hillary Clinton “reviewed or was at least informed about a March 6, 2009, Information Memo from Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Eric J. Boswell to Ms. Mills.”

The memo stated that Boswell “cannot stress too strongly…that any unclassified BlackBerry is highly vulnerable in any setting..."
