This morning WBOC claimed they FOUND this story on social media, (change.org) but you and I both know that's a load of crap.
Some Liberal Snowflake fed WBOC this take down this confederate marker story. I just love how they make such a BS story even bigger by using words like HEATED on the Internet.
So why no statement from Boy Mayor Jake Day or County Executive Bob Culver? I can see Culver now, Oh blow it out your..... nose. WBOC's response, CUT!

ReplyDeleteWinder was born in 1802 in Somerset County, which was divided in 1866 (the year he died of a heart attack) to include Somerset, Worcester and Wicomico counties. The family plantation, which was lost after his father's death, was somewhere not far from Salisbury.

ReplyDeleteThe Winder petition story is still on the WBOC site but since it was a news item on 6/8 it is no longer their "front page" so to speak. It angers me when a couple of protesters demand the removal of historical markers/statues. I have to wonder how many were even aware the marker was there and had actually read it. I have no doubt every statue and marker in the US someone would fine offensive. Winder did not commit his so called crimes during our life time. He was a "hometown boy" in somebody's eyes who was famous enough to deserve a historical sign. Perhaps a marker could be raised beside Winder's stating "James Yamakawa, the protester who is so offended by 150 year old history he eradicates it. "
