Mr. Comey believed Mr. Sessions should protect the F.B.I. from White House influence, the officials said, and pulled him aside after a meeting in February to tell him that private interactions between the F.B.I. director and the president were inappropriate. But Mr. Sessions could not guarantee that the president would not try to talk to Mr. Comey alone again, the officials said.

ReplyDeleteFormer FBI Director James Comey (top) told Attorney General Jeff Sessions in February that he didn't want to be left alone with President Donald Trump (pictured together bottom), according to a new report by The New York Times. Comey approached Sessions just one day after he had a private meeting with the president where he asked the then-FBI director to end the investigation into his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who had already been fired at the time. Comey believed Sessions should protect the FBI from White House, sources told the Times. Comey is set to testify about the Russia investigation before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday.

ReplyDeleteComey's testimony is going to expose him as an unbalanced, preening dilettante whose tenure at the FBI bordered on a farce.
ReplyDeleteSo says the NY Times. Scraping the bottom of the barrel to see what evidence can be found but still nothing.
ReplyDeleteLove all these fake news sources. An anonymous source in 2017 means as much as the election polls in 2016.
ReplyDeleteI see. So Comey believes a private meeting between him and the President is inappropriate, but he doesn't believe there is anything inappropriate about a private meeting between the Attorney General and a former President and husband of the woman who is the subject of the highest level FBI investigation in decades. Got it.
