UPDATE: Ocean City Police confirmed two males jumped from the Route 90 bridge around 5:30 p.m. Police Public Affairs Specialist Lindsay Richard said the search results are negative thus far.
"From what I hear it's very clear today so they would likely see them if they were in the water, she said. "We are hopeful they were picked up by another boat prior to emergency response."
Ocean City Fire Department boat 1 has completed its search, as has the Maryland State Police helicopter. The Department of Natural Resources and Coast Guard will continue the search, and OCPD will continue the search on land.
Well I and my friends used to jump off the Pocomoke River Bridge on Rt. 13 and the Chincoteague Bridge going into Assateague. Boys will be Boys!
ReplyDeleteThose were the days!! We jumped off the Rt. 12 Bridge in Snow Hill.
Deleteits ok until.u drown.
DeleteNo one could have survived jumping from the Route 13 highway bridge to the river ..... the draw bridge yes .... the high way no
DeleteI've seen people I went to school with jump off the rt 13 highway bridge aka abc bridge, and they were fine.
DeleteHow deep is the water there is the question. Hoping for good news here...
ReplyDeleteNot very.
DeleteAverage 6-9 ft. Depends on what bridge also
DeleteIf you are asking how deep the pocomoke river is under the rt 3 aka ABC bridge, well it is a legend that it is so deep that there is no bottom. My father and his friends would swim it when they were younger and several swam as deep as they could to find the bottom and never made
DeleteSomeone must have been waiting for them. It's just a matter of time before they find out who those fools are.
ReplyDeleteHope they have to.pay for using all the first responders time....
ReplyDeleteEBT ?
DeleteWhy they didn't call or ask for it
DeleteReally they didnt ask for response and even if they did get first response because of injury they didnt intwntionally set out to use the department for anything.
DeleteBoys will be boys but that's crazy first of all know one should be on rt 90 unless in a car 2 nd all the money spent looking for them is crazy make there parents pay the bill.
ReplyDeleteThat's certainly pretty crazy.... But in their defense, there are no signs that say "No Jumping Off The Bridge".
ReplyDeleteFor that reason they will probably get off of any charges - except for the charge of being idiots, and you really can't legislate that.
Hey anonymous who jumped the route 12 bridge in Snow Hill would that have been around 1956-57 or58? I lived probably a hundred yards from that bridge and jumped it frequently during those years. Would wait for a car to come along and pretend to fall off the rail.
ReplyDeleteI was arrested for jumping off the 50 drawbridge.
ReplyDeleteSick and tired of the boys will be boys BS. I get it! people do stupid things. But the boys will be boys attitude gets boys in real trouble later on in life. At the very least it gives them the idea they can do whatever they want and its just fine.
ReplyDeleteTwo future Darwin award winners to be sure
ReplyDeleteGood one!!
DeleteI once jumped off of the Bay Bridge & got knocked out when I hit the water.Oddly enough I floated on my back for 2 hours until a nice family from Annapolis pulled me into their boat, still unconscious.I came to about an hour later in the hospital.God apparently does watch over babies and fools.I jumped from the highest point west bound.
ReplyDeletethats just plain freakin stupid
DeleteWe used to jump off the Sharptown and the Brookview bridges all summer. We're all still here. Oh we drank from the hose and never heard of a bike helmet.
