Bill would require jail to screen for illegal immigrants
TOWSON, Md. —The Baltimore County Council is taking up a controversial measure that takes aim at sanctuary cities, which prompted a large protest Tuesday in Towson.
Democratic leaders in Baltimore County, activists and immigrant-rights advocates rallied outside the old courthouse to protest County Bill 32-17, which would require the Baltimore County Detention Center to screen for illegal immigrants.
"Ladies and gentleman, this is a time for real leaders to stand up against hate and bigotry," Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said. "Not only is this bill unconstitutional, it's Un-American."
The protesters called the measure flawed and racist.

No, it would be racist if you screened for a RACE. Instead you are checking a criminal to see if they have committed another crime. What's next, you can't check to see if a serial murderer's MO matches any cold cases??? After all that might discriminate against serial murderers.
ReplyDeleteillegal. what about this do people not understand?
ReplyDeletethey are ILLEGAL, what part of the English language do these so called "law makers" not understand, it is NOT un-american!
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't this already policy?
ReplyDeleteSimple solution put all the illegal immigrants in Towson and let their leaders find out what everyone else has to live with. Are you crazy it is a good thing to check backgrounds while incarcerated either jail or deport all the bad ones with records. Or you can take them all to your communities, Democrats find reasons to ruin the towns and cities, and run down Trump after all they have nothing else to do except cry for poor Hillary. CLEAN THE SWAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look like it is all that big of a crowd. sounds to me like a bunch of unemployed loud mouths with nothing better to do.. bill sounds like a great common sense thing to do
ReplyDeleteCommon sense is always disrupted by stupidity - i.e., political correctness!
ReplyDeleteAu contraire! It is VERY American, very Constitutional, does not discriminate on race, and is a danged great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhen a convict is ready to leave they have to give the parole office a "home plan"...or a list of where they are going to be living. Although certain places in Salisbury are designated an area where convicts cannot relocate...they do it anyway. The whole screening process for illegals makes sense.
ReplyDeleteIt is NOT unAmerican, it is very American!
ReplyDeleteIf they are here legally, they should have NO rights.
When you are here illegally you are nothing but a criminal. By coming here illegally that is what you have reduced yourself to-a criminal. There is nothing Un American about turning in a criminal.
