Md. Senator Drafting Bill To Prevent Police From Removing Airline Customers

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — In the wake of the United Airlines debacle at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport last weekend, in which paying customer David Dao was forcibly removed from a flight, Maryland Senator Jim Rosapepe says he’s drafting legislation to keep the same thing from happening at Maryland’s Baltimore–Washington International Airport.

The bill piggybacks on a national push to protect passengers. This bill, specific to BWI, would ensure airlines can’t use local police simply to enforce their business interests.

Days after video of Dao being dragged of a flight went viral, sparking national outrage and launching a local investigation, Rosapepe promises he’ll fight to keep BWI passengers in their seats.

“I’m having legislation drafted to say that police at BWI Airport will not be allowed to drag ticketed passengers off a plane simply because an airline is overbooked,” said Rosapepe.

  4. Actually I think it is a good idea. Why should the State or City open themselves up to lawsuits to carry out the the bad ideas of a greedy airline. If they needed to move employees to another place they should have planned better. I'm not saying the Dr. was right but United and LE showed their @$$ that day.

The man paid for his F***ing ticket and they let him board the plane. I guarantee you that your Pu$$y A$$ would be whining like a little girl if they told you that you would have to exit the plane.

Believe me, I am not a libtard and I probably would have gone apesh!t on those idiots as well.

Funny how only 3 people on the plane of nearly 200 got off, but all these brave men are saying they would give up their seats. Wait, that is not what they said! It didn't happen to them so it's not an issue until it does.

  9. 8:07 Majority of them don't fly because they are either scared of them fancy flying machines or they are too broke to fly because their wife divorced them for drinking and hunting/fishing too much so he now has alimony/child support garnishments on his $13/hr. job along with truck payments.

  10. Didn't anyone realize that United did not remove any passengers from this flight? Chicago Police removed the passenger in a manner that they saw fit. United offered compensation (rather attractive) to passengers willing to give their seats up. The particular passenger decided on his own to be belligerent. United simply should have raised the compensation to attract a DIFFERENT passenger but they erred and requested Chicago police assistance instead in order to address an out of control passenger. United did NOT punch or drag anyone and I agree that there were no grounds to fire any of their front line customer service as they simply followed policy.

Chicago is simply a city of bad actors period that their mayor hasn't the demonstrated skills to manage.
