Drone racing coming to Dover during NASCAR weekend

The International Drone Racing Association will hold an event in conjunction with Dover’s NASCAR race weekend. The race will be free and open to the public in Dover’s FanZone.

The race will feature 16 professional teams from around the world, competing to earn points toward the World Championship. The three-year agreement provides IDRA with the opportunity to showcase the growing sport of drone racing in Dover.

“Dover International Speedway is an incredible opportunity for IDRA,” said Justin Haggerty, the founder and CEO of IDRA. “Showcasing the sport, during a major NASCAR weekend, to tens of thousands of motorsports fans is the best opportunity that IDRA could ask for. To IDRA, the drone racing community is the sport’s most valuable asset and it is set to grow after the Dover race.”

  1. Nascar is fading away. Ticket prices too high and too many rule changes taking the fun out of it. Dover's parking setup is horrible. Had season tickets 2000-2008 and gave them up. Look at the stands on TV. Many sections of seats covered up with advertising to block view of unsold seats.

  2. They took out over 30,000 seats at Dover, actually, did not take them out, they widened the old ones so it didn't look as bad as removing them.. About 35,00 seats at bristol, gone. And many other tracks have also removed thousands of seats.
but, it's back to really the NASCAR fans now. Glad the Bandwagon fans are gone.
Put tobacco and liquor back into the advertising on cars and races and it would bring in millions more $$.
NASCAR fans are NOT politically correct.

  3. Yeah, nascar pretty much PC'd and regulated itself out of business. Dale Jr. retiring this year won't help sales any either.
