I'm Not a tree hugger, but I will state emphatically that I Hate to see trash in our oceans, waterways, landscape and more...I know people get tired of hearing this, but 'back in the day' our parents and culture taught us NOT to throw trash out car windows, put in waterways or oceans and so much more. In fact we were taught to pick up anything we saw on the ground and place it in the proper place. Out land was almost pristine and we loved and respected what we were blessed with. Wish today's younger parents and children were being taught the same. The damage done with all the plastic and trash in the oceans and waterways is disgraceful. The damage done to our wildlife and fish is sad. Our land always looks trashy, even locally. It takes leadership and all of us (parents, teachers, pols, and more) promoting a clean pristine America...
If you come walk the river walk in Salisbury, you can spot ducks and geese that have plastic wrapped around their legs and necks. Very upsetting to see, knowing that it is humans that cause this.
I'm a fisherman. Constantly find grocery bags, chip bags, balloons ect coming out of the bay. Government won't act on banning them because it would hurt the oil companies.
Stores and restaurants in Icean City should stop giving customers plastic shopping bags.
