A Viewer writes: Idiot Driver

Joe - I saw that you wanted instances of negligent drivers in Salisbury area - here's one. 15 year old daughter and my dog in backseat heading west on Nanticoke Road after school, approaching Levin Deshield Road, idiot driver pulls out right in front of me ! Scared us to death. My daughter had just completed her driving class last Friday. Amazing.

  1. I live in Centennial Village and I witness idiot drivers almost everyday on Nanticoke Road. Some actually right in Centennial Village are exceeding the speed limit, tailgating, etc.

  2. Always expect the drivers around you to do the dumbest thing possible. You will too often be right.
Also, just remember "it doesn't matter if you're right or wrong if you're dead!"

  3. Had an instance the other day when a gold minivan passed my wife, myself, and our infant child as we approached the intersection at the light by Wendy's heading South. Came up behind us, swerved over into the turn lane and then around us (barely) through the stop light. Then proceeded to swerve in and out of traffic as we approached Fruitland. Got to the stoplight by Cheers which turned red, the van swerves across traffic into and through the parking lot to avoid the light. All of that to get ahead of the traffic by twenty-thirty seconds. Such an a**h***.

  4. always be aware of your surroundings and have a plan
#1 thing taught in the motorcycle safety course.

assume anyone on a side road does not see you and will pull out in front of you

  5. This area is difficult for people to gain access to 349 or Nanticoke road. It is about a 2mile long area on both sides . Stop signs are ignored and people expect you to slow down and allow them right of way. I don't give an inch , screw em.

  6. Thesis everyday everywhere, so just be ready all the time. It's the same nationwide, but this is minor compared to many more.

    Just be ready, is all.

  7. What was your speed at the time? They could not see you due to the right turning vehicle. From video, if you were paying attention to cross streets intersections, you would have seen them at the stop sign and been prepared in the event that they pulled out. Just saying as someone that has been through several defensive driving and EVOC programs.

that might have been the case here with the vehicle turning. but he should have still waited until he could have seen clearly.

I understand your frustration and do not doubt what you say, however you are just as wrong. If you do not avoid causing an accident, you ARE the cause of an accident. do you and your ego have to be right to such an extreme as to cause an accident and possibly injure people, including yourself?

Wow. Property damage and possible personal injuries just to prove your point? And chances are you could be charged as well. You sure told them tho didn't you?

I hope I never have to share the road with you anytime soon.

Completed Motorcycle Safety Course several years ago. Drove co. vehicle for 30 + years without one accident. Numerous awards for safe driving. Subscribe to defensive driving techniques. My speed was 50 mph in 50 mph zone, several cars behind me, time period was after school - 330 pm. A few weeks ago some moron ran into the back of a school bus going east on Nanticoke Rd - texting while driving. Assume all other drivers are complete idiots, so many are !

  10. If you are not a defensive driver nowadays, you WILL be involved in an accident with a negligent driver. Forget about any "right of way." Taking the right-of-way will get you, or the other driver killed. Those people just don't care, unless they fear instant death from an 18 wheeler. Even then, ask any professional driver, they will pull out in front of even them sometimes. It is anarchy on our highways today. Unless you are a target of a speed trap, or a DUI checkpoint, there is no traffic enforcement by the state or local police.
