Suspect Killed In Police-Involved Shooting; Got Out Of Jail On Monday

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A police-involved shooting in west Baltimore left one man dead. Police said the 18 year old was no stranger to the law and he was just released from jail Monday.

Ava-Joye Burnett reports why police said this was a justified shooting.

The department says an officer’s life was in danger. A routine patrol in west Baltimore turned deadly Tuesday afternoon.

Baltimore police said officers spotted a vehicle driving erratically. One of the passengers eventually bailed and took off down an alley. When an officer cut around in the other direction. Police said he came face-to-face with an 18-year-old man with a gun, but it does not appear the suspect fired.

“This 18 year old suspect has been arrested twice in the past month with a hand gun and he was arrested once for another incident in the past month,” said Baltimore Police spokesman T.J. Smith.

  4. Another one that should not have been released in the first place - but as 7:35 more eloquently stated it - this is a cheaper. There are soooo many taxpayers that would gladly pay to replace the ammunition expended instead of the prosecution and incarceration costs!

  5. If you say something you are called racist so your only option is to keep moving away from violence then they call it white flight...Democrats have failed the black community with their soft bigotry of low expectations.

  6. It appears that there is a lack of demographics missing on the suspect in this story. Would that be because someone is trying to curtail any riotous behavior that could stem from knowing the missing demographics?

  7. Rebel, does it matter? He made the wrong choices and he is dead... end of story. Why be a race baiter? Don't sink to that level.

  8. 949 - I'm not being a "race baiter", I'm simply asking a question about demographics because it has become quite noticeable lately that many stories are coming out lacking identifying features of the suspects. How am I supposed to know the "race" of the suspect? It does not indicate any race in the story.

To law enforcement, demographics have important meaning. What if the only description of a convenience store robber was that the "person" was wearing a hoodie and jeans? I guess the police could have their hands full looking for people wearing hoodies and jeans.
