Monster winter storm expected to churn up 50-foot waves in the open Atlantic

A monster winter storm is taking shape along the East Coast this week, and the National Weather Service is calling for 50-foot waves in the Atlantic by Tuesday. That’s not just a shot-in-the-dark — if you add up all of the forecast data, there’s over a 90 percent chance that wave heights will exceed 30 feet.
This storm is the same trough of low pressure that dipped into the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday and dropped a few inches of snow in the D.C. area. On Monday morning, the storm was just 1005 millibars — barely a low pressure system at all. But over the next 48 hours, the storm is expected to drop to 968 millibars.

  1. I hope it completely destroys Ocean City! Whip it off the map! This place is worse than a casino with all the crime it brings in.

    1. The real crime is Sunsations and all the others. Rents are too high for legit business so the only ones left are the money launderers. This won't change because the city is run by the landlord's who collect the rent.

    3. What is wrong with you? Think of the hard working families who live there. If you don't like it then don't go there, but don't wish harm upon innocent people and their homes.

  3. When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin'
Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya
At seven pm a main hatchway caved in, he said
Fellas, it's been good t'know ya
The captain wired in he had water comin' in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when his lights went outta sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

Does any one know where the love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?

  4. 3:30 Just stay away. I enjoy it there. The people are nice, have teeth, and most have IQ's higher than your thermostat, unlike other parts of the Delmarvalous Peninsula.
Personally, never had an issue with crime. I don't even lock my car.
    And, did you mean wipe?

  9. My son runs a large(about 90 ft) fishing vessel out of New Bedford, Mass. They normally work about a 100 to 150 miles offshore, every time a storm is coming I pray he doesn't get caught in it. The storm they are predicting is very dangerous and I'm nervous. Thanks for listening Stu Stinchfield
