Congress Spent $14.7 Million on Foreign Travel in 2016 - A Whopping 24 Percent Increase

Members of Congress spent at least $14.7 million on taxpayer-funded foreign travel in fiscal year 2016, a 24 percent increase over the year before,USA Today reported.

The news outlet reports the bill includes 557 overseas trips, or 40 percent of all the individual congressional travels, ringing in at $10,000 per trip at least, according to accounting of the trips in the Congressional Record.

None of the totals include other trips for which the military provides transportation; USA Today reported.

  1. This expense plus the millions Obama and family accrued with their foreign travels, personal and what should have been reimbursed through his campaign, will save Pres Trump millions possibly billion

    10:11 ALL presidents have been protected over the years, so get over yourself. This is NOT going to change. period.

    POLS shouldn't be spending our tax dollars this way.
