White House Taskforce Highlights Baltimore Progress, Makes Recommendations

After 18 months, a White House taskforce convened to tackle social and economic issues in Baltimore has identified priorities for federal assistance and plans for long-term prosperity in Baltimore.

"The Taskforce recommends that moving forward Federal agencies working in Baltimore sustain their existing investments, maintain interagency coordination, continue to be proactive, work to understand Baltimore’s vision and priorities, and continue to pilot programs in the City," reads the executive summary of the report published Wednesday. "Local and regional Federal field offices will continue to coordinate their work and be a point of entry into the Federal government for Baltimore City leaders."

City leaders and elected officials, including Mayor Catherine Pugh and the city's members of Congress, will discuss the report's findings at an event in Fells Point Wednesday afternoon.

The taskforce included representatives from a number of cabinet-level departments, as well as the General Services Administration, National Endowment for the Arts and the Small Business Administration. It's separate from ongoing negotiations between the city and the Justice Department on a consent decree for city police.

  1. Looks like good construction going on building leaning buildings. Now I understand the Feds wanting to intervene in great recruiting from Baltimore.
