Salisbury, Md. – Perdue Farms, through a $15,000 grant funded by The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation and associate engagement, is helping the Nanticoke Senior Center in Seaford, Del., provide meals to homebound seniors. The Foundation is the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms.
“At Perdue, we believe that no one should go hungry. And when it comes to assuring the nutrition of our senior citizens, we know we can make a difference by investing in programs like the Homebound Meals Program at the Nanticoke Senior Center,” said Kim Nechay, executive director of The Foundation. “They do great things through this program and we are honored to be a part of it.”
On Monday, Dec. 19, Perdue delivered the grant and 200 roasters for distribution to seniors, and a team of associates helped deliver meals.
“We are thrilled to receive this important grant from The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation and grateful for the compassion of Perdue associates in support of our mission to deliver balanced, hot meals to homebound seniors in the Seaford community,” said Barbara Elliott, director of operations.
The Nanticoke Senior Center has served Seaford-area seniors for 40 years, and its staff and volunteers provide more than 54,000 meals every year to homebound seniors. Nutritious meals are prepared in an on-site commercial kitchen and delivered three days a week to eligible seniors.
