Teenage singer Jackie Evancho will perform the National Anthem at Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington, DC on January 20, the President-elect’s inaugural committee announced Wednesday.
The 16-year-old opera singer is best known for her appearance on America’s Got Talent, where she finished second during the 2010 season, at just 10 years old.
“I have recently been asked by the President-elect to perform the National Anthem for the swearing-in ceremony at the inauguration,” Evancho said on Today Wednesday morning. “I’m so excited. It’s going to be awesome.”

I think that's great but I wonder how many young kids really know what the words of that song mean and how it came to be written? I remember sometime in elementary school a teacher explained it and we discussed it and it always means something special every time I hear it.
