Scratched screws led Eastern Shore police to $107,000 worth of cocaine inside car

Federal agents knew Michael Mattos was supposed to be bringing 1½ kilos of cocaine from New York to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, but they couldn’t find it during a traffic stop earlier this year in Accomack County.

One, Mattos’ buyer was cooperating with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Two, a drug dog alerted to the presence of narcotics in Mattos’ SUV and his girlfriend’s rental van.

And three, state police found a hidden – albeit empty – compartment inside the SUV.

They still couldn’t find the drugs, though.

  1. Thanks for telling the rest of the drug smugglers to be careful not to leave scratches on screws.

  2. The real drugs are moved in LEO vehicles. Never pulled over and never searched.

    1. So the Cop is off duty and calls in sick on secondary employment happen to have a kilo drug dealer on standby who completely trust the cop not to bust him. Then the cop sells his cocaine after a day of drying and cutting it to all the mid level dealers. Mid level dealers would never turn on the cop or think it's a set up. And we all know most cops have 20k laying around just for drug smuggling... you voted for Hillary go back to bed.

  3. You are special kind of stupid. The LEO only transport. They are couriers like Fedex. Happens more than you think in big cities not your lil slice of podunkville where all the cops are sleeping with each others wives/girlfriends and gossip about everything.

    3. Exactly two guys from Mardela were doing it the one guy works for FedEx and would know when the stuff was coming in and had it shipped to a false address and the would call the guy and tell him it was delivered. Cops caught on though...and also I don't know how stupid this guy was cause a kilo and a half doesn't cost $110,000 or even 107 with transportation. That shits worth about 22 to 25 a kilo. I love how these news people just know so much the cops put that big number on there to draw everyone's attention

  4. If you are not familiar with the term "Jury Nullification" please look it up. If Hillary wins we should never send another non-violent person to prison.

Hillary sent the same information to all of her supporters. No thanks needed.

  6. So, the next time the police tout their "traffic enforcement" as the reason for all these apparently VERY lucky drug busts after not using a turn signal or speeding (58 in a 50), understand this ---- they were WAITING for the offender.
It is NOT great "traffic enforcement". It's informers.
