Punkin Chunkin ready to relaunch
BRIDGEVILLE – Once again it is time for the annual World Championship Punkin Chunkin, Nov. 4-6 back at the Wheatley Farm in Bridgeville after a two-year hiatus.
This year, over 100 teams from around the world are traveling to Sussex county with their trebuchets, centrifugals, torsions, catapults and of course air cannons to compete for the coveted one-mile shot and a new world record. With two years of testing and tuning away from the annual competition, teams are eager to see how they will stack up against other competitors who they haven’t seen recently.
The are many family-friendly activities to keep every spectator entertained throughout the day. The day will include bands including Judy Sings the Blues, Lincoln City and Scrapple, vendors, the Pumpkin Cookin Contest, Chili Cook-Off contest, Miss Punkin Chunkin Pageant, a beer garden, as well as games and fun for the kids.

I have always loved seeing the American freedom exercised at events like this. It's sad that the sponsors of such free events become targets of individuals who try to blame others for their own mistakes. God Bless these promoters and their stamina to persevere in this wonderful endeavor. We, the People really enjoy and celebrate this event, and wish it will enjoy a long and happy life!
