Three men were charged Tuesday with 23 counts of wildlife violations after an investigation indicated they illegally hunted deer over a two-year period.
Dustin Walter LeCates, 24, and Mark Wayne Fletcher Jr., 22, both of Salisbury, and Christopher David Causey, 29, of Eden, are scheduled to appear in Wicomico County District Court Dec. 6 to face charges that carry a maximum fine of $12,000.
Acting on a tip, officers found that LeCates and Causey shot a white-tailed buck during bow season in 2014, counting down and shooting at the same time. LeCates had already checked in a nine-point buck that season and did not have an antlered bonus stamp.
The investigation further found that all three men were hunting on state land in Dorchester County in December 2015 and did not check in the four does they killed.

What the heck does counting down and shooting at the same time mean? Also if they broke the law in dorchester county than wicomico county has nothing to do with it. What about statute of limitations, I think they need a good lawyer.
ReplyDeleteI think that they need a swift kick in the backside.
ReplyDeleteIs that Steve Causey's kid?
ReplyDeleteNo it's not
DeleteI think we have alot more things to worry about than a couple boys controlling the deer population. How many heroin ods did we have that day. 10:14 you need a swift smack on the side of your car by a deer.
ReplyDelete10:14. It means what it says. On the count of 3 we both
ReplyDeleteY'all was ready to hang an old waterman for being 50-60 yards over an imaginary line in the water, but it is ok for people to poach deer? SMH!
ReplyDeleteI know the boys personally and all the deer were shot on state land. Poaching was no the issue. I saw the tickets and they didnt turn the deer in big deal. With all the other problems in salisbury were really going to say this is worth posting about?? Btw there were other people cited for they same thing where are their names at?
ReplyDelete10:30 your right!! And no im not steve causeys son and yet we got fined over 9,000$ but how many heroin dealers still run the streets and they busted our crap over FORGETTING to check a deer in!! And people wonder whats wrong with crap!! We all 3 hunt legally but one time we forgot to check a deer in and we are getting crucified for it but leave heroin on the streets right?? And they didnt get a tip they seen the pics on our facebook and checked back on our hunting license they didnt get no tip smh DNR is a joke
ReplyDeleteHow is DNR a joke when that's them doing their job? Maybe y'all are the ones that a joke cause you can't abide by the law. Especially for Chris to parade around of how much of an amazing hunter he is shouldn't he know the rules, laws, and regulations to prevent something like this happening?!
DeleteHaha 12:39 your funny lol years of " abiding by the law" to one forgotten check in smh makes a person a criminal now?

DNR is a joke because they are wannabe tyrants. They are regulating the 'kings' wildlife. Wildlife that God put here for our enjoyment and our FOOD. Are deer in any danger of becoming extinct? No. Are deer populations dwindling? No. So what's the point other than raising revenue and justifying their job?

If they were stealing seafood to make money they were wrong. If anyone 'poaches' deer because they are hungry, they are okay.
30Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
31But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
Proverbs.
From what some of the comments say, the DNR should be looking for heroin dealers? With that kind of logic, maybe the SHA should be showing up for heroin overdoses.

They are comparing the emphasis on poaching to their perceived lack of emphasis on drug dealers.
it seems like, from the comments, these guys are experienced hunters so should know the laws. If you don't want to pay big fines, don't break the rules. I fail to see how heroin has anything to do with this though. There are murderers still running free but that doesn't mean we shouldn't prosecute armed robbers. Pointing at another problem seems, to me, a juvenile way to whine about getting in trouble. And for something about which they should have known better. Disclaimer: I am not a hippie or a tree hugger.....i say shoot as many deer as you can and turn them into sausage for my freezer.....but do it while abiding by the rules.

ReplyDeleteThat's right. Obey, comply, don't do anything your master tells you not to.
You need to move past the heroin thing. You obviously don't get it. Some things are said as a metaphor and are not meant to be taken literally.
I do understand the concept of a metaphor. But they were not using heroin as a metaphor. A metaphor makes an implied comparison between 2 different things with similar characteristics. I believe that they were using the 2 'crimes' to create an analogy. My point was that if you know what the rules are, play by the rules. If not, be prepared to accept consequences. DO i agree with ALL the laws in the country? Hell no. Do i follow all of them. Yes. Put your big boy pants on guys, admit you were wrong, pay your fines and move on. Maybe don't forget to tag in the future though. :-)
ReplyDeleteWish the police put as much effort into keeping the people safe from drugs and crime, as the DNR does trying to protect deer, crabs and fish.
