Why would you waste your time holding a meeting only to deny school choice to Delaware residents because you have granted school choice to Salisbury, MD students (not Delmar, MD students but students who live in Salisbury and some who actually live close to Fruitland)?
Why would anyone want to go to a school that is trying to cut programs (special ed, athletics), not replacing teachers, and looking to be absorbed into the Laurel School District that is full of thugs.
Hey Joe, just to give you a heads up, on the west side of Salisbury, it looks like the Board of Education is urging people to vote yes to question 1 for an elected school board. Looks like they are scared of loosing their power! Counter signs need to go up to tell people to vote for an elected school board, chosen by the people of Wicomico County and not the BOE and the state of Maryland. I've attended the meetings. The BOE is out of control. The current system is taxation without representation!
Forgive my ignorance on this subject, but how is it that Maryland students can go to a De school? Is there an agreement in place? Do we pay De for MD students to attend this school?
All of these schools could be great if they took a stronger stand against the violent thugs that just want to disrupt and deny other students a peaceful and safe learning environment.
There is an agreement in place for Delmar Residents. Delaware pays for those students in Delmar, De who attend the elementary school which is in Maryland. Maryland pays Delaware for those students who live in Maryland and attend Delmar High, which is in Delaware. I have been told there are people who reside in Salisbury who are going to Delmar. Big no-no. If you know of someone who is attending Delmar High illegally, please contact the school and report it. Unless, of course, screaming it on a blog suits you better.
I was speaking of Wicomico. There may be an agreement between the entitites that we know nothing about. Just trying to stop someone from making an ass out of themselves out of jealousy or some sort of indignant sense of entitlement. the only thing that will fix the abuses is knowledge of and changes to the guidelines set forth by both states. Not frivolous reporting.
The school knows who they are. If they don't like the student they will try to get rid of them. Most however they have turned a blind eye to. It is such a mess there. Administration has their favorites, friends of the Superintendent, using teachers addresses....all ways to get in.
Delmar is not alone in the abuses by parents. Special permission in Wic Co is a b$&#€ to get. It's people who break the rules that make it difficult for those who follow them. It's sad world we live in. Me...me...me...MINE!
Heard Delmar was already past the 85% capacity so they did not have to accept any choice students.

There are special permissions granted by the BOEs. Hard to get, but they exist. Make sure you have your ducks in a row before reporting!
DeleteThere is no such thing as special permission in Delmar, DE. Know that first hand. Kids are there on favors, friends and favorites.

DeleteIf you are a good athlete, special permission is far more easier to get than a normal student.
