A Comment Worthy Of A Post 10-21-16
Hey Joe, just to give you a heads up, on the west side of Salisbury, it looks like the Board of Education is urging people to vote yes to question 1 for an elected school board. Looks like they are scared of loosing their power! Counter signs need to go up to tell people to vote for an elected school board, chosen by the people of Wicomico County and not the BOE and the state of Maryland. I've attended the meetings. The BOE is out of control. The current system is taxation without representation!
Losing power is sort of the opposite of loosing power.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is, someone paid some money to put these signs up in the west side of Salisbury. This definitely looks like something our BOE would do to try and control their power.
ReplyDeleteThey don't want us have an elected school board, picked by the people, and elected by the people of Wicomico County.
This is one of the few counties left in this state that has this.
Look at the mess we have right now. Most of the county budget goes to the Board of Education. The tax payers who paid their salaries, have no say in how our tax money is paid or funded. This needs to stop. As a tax pay and property tax payer of this county, I believe I should have a say in how our money is spent!!!!!!!!!
All are entitled to campaign unless the Constitution changed while I was sleeping.
ReplyDeleteOf course they are entitled. The voters need to learn the facts!
ReplyDeleteThe board of education wants to keep their power and control over how things are done. The fact that the people have no control how things are done, is unconstitutional! They want to keep their gravy train going without accountability or control. But the key word of is: "entitled"
Could someone please elaborate on how we are to vote to get a public election.
ReplyDeleteYou said they want you to vote yes, but are we to vote no?
I just dont understand, as it appears information it lacking
As was it with the election ballot info for the county.
There was clearly insufficient information and had to go to the daily slime to see what each choice meant.
So if I want a publically elected school board how do I correctly vote?
west side? the signs are all over the county
ReplyDeleteYou vote yes on question two, or 2. It's the question that has words like want & elected in it.
ReplyDelete9:58 I didn't realize it was all over the county. I live outside of Hebron. Just noticed yesterday these signs have been put up and the writing is on both the front and back. I'm certain there are special interest groups withing the BOE who had these signs designed and placed. Counter measures need to be done.
ReplyDelete10:11 AM thanks for your answer with attitude.
ReplyDeleteIf you read the article it states that the Board of Ed wants you to vote yes and the author is against it?
Why do people have to be such jerks
Signs up east side (Mt. Hermon Rd) but are FOR an elected board. (Yes to #2)
ReplyDeleteYes to question 1, would mean business as usual. It means the BOE and the State would pick your representatives and not allow you to have an elected School board, elected by the voters and tax payers of Wicomico County. Voting yes to question 1, would allow decisions to be business as usual with the BOE running the school board. This is unacceptable! I would say 10:30 needs to read the statement. You are the jerk!!! Must be a BOE member?
ReplyDelete10:30, my sample ballot came last week and there were clearly 3 different questions to be marked yes or no on. Maybe you didn't get your sample ballot yet.
ReplyDeleteIf not, Question #2 asks for an all elected board. Vote YES on that one, and NOT the others.
Appointed or elected, you are mistaken if you think any local Board can stand up against unfunded federal and state mandates- which drives most of what happens in public education
ReplyDeleteQuestion A
ReplyDeleteOption 2
Elected School Board
