The Hillary Clinton campaign has pilloried Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey for re-opening the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
“It is extraordinary that we would see something like this just 11 days out from a presidential election,” Clinton chairman John Podesta said in a statement Friday. “The Director owes it to the American people to immediately provide the full details of what he is now examining.”
Not long ago, however, the Clinton campaign was defending Comey from partisan attacks and complimenting his ability and independence.
That all changed on Friday when Comey notified Congress that the FBI had “learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation” and would be taking additional steps to review the emails and “determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation.”
