i'm all for charity, but $50/team seems a bit excessive. 128x50=$6400 for United Way. Sounds like a fun event but still they should offer at least $100 cash prize to winning team.

They bought 11 sets of new cornhole boards and I can tell you right now that that cost took a chunk from that $6400. Problem with people is that they only see the end $$$ and NEVER understand what it actually costs to do the tournament. When all is said and done, they will be lucky to clear $2000. If you can;t afford it, just don't play instead of complaining about someone who is raising money for charity. This tournament isn't about you. If that what is costs to have this, then so be it. This is about raising money, not giving you somewhere to have an afternoon of fun only.
I understand the costs of organizing the tourney and i play in a lot of local tourneys and i will be playing in this one as well. I do think the winner should at least get their entry fee back.
If I paid and won and got my entry fee as a prize, I would immediately donate it back! It is a fund raiser for charity!! Don't play if you do not want to donate!
