Ticket sales under way for Punkin Chunkin

After a two-year absence, tickets are now for Punkin Chunkin.

The autumn event will be held Nov. 4-6 at Wheatley Farms, near Bridgeville.

The event that launches pumpkins from cannons is back in Sussex County after an unsuccessful effort to move the event to the Dover Downs area in Kent County.

The delay was blamed on problems in obtaining liability insurance, Legislative efforts to modify the laws were opposed by trial lawyers, who brushed off allegations of torpedoing the event that features high-powered machines that shoot pumpkins for long distances.

An agreement was finally reached to hold the event and waivers are part of the registration for Punkin Chunkin.
