An Ohio man with a concealed carry permit was presented an award this week for saving a Mount Vernon police officer who was being attacked by a suspect.
Cpl. Michael Wheeler of Ohio’s Mount Vernon Police Department recounted Wednesday an incident last year when he was attacked by a homeless crystal meth addict. Cpl. Wheeler said the suspect knocked him onto his back and pinned him to the ground, The Federalist reported.
Cpl. Wheeler said the man was reaching for his firearm when Dylan DeBoard appeared with a handgun drawn.
“I wish a lot more of society would do what he did. There were people standing around, but they were just watching. I kept wondering why people didn’t do anything," the officer said.

This is case-in-point why every responsible gun owner who is licensed to carry should carry. You never know what might happen right in front of you.
ReplyDeleteHe probably saved this officer's life.
Yes this is why we need to be able to carry everywhere! No matter what state.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Also police should be jujitsu practitioners.
ReplyDeleteFunny becasue according to all cops, anyone with a conceal carry permit, is crazy and dangerous and every other name in the book, until they saved their live... The damn head of MSP said so himself...
ReplyDeleteNow imagine if that was maryland, where you can;t get a conceal carry permit unless you can prove you need one... What would happen to this cop then???
And with all of this them vs us mentality, and the way cops abuse their power, I am surprised anyone even decided to help this cop out...
1:26 you couldn't be farther from the truth.
ReplyDeleteFurther from the truth about what? Not being able to get a permit from a state who downright doesn't want to give law abiding citizens one or that cops abuse their power? Both are absolutely true.
DeleteFurther than the truth about what cops (not political chiefs) think about gun control... but keep believing that you know anything about what all cops think.
