Maryland ranked No. 30 on CNBC's annual list of America's best states for business, up six spots from last year.
CNBC's ranking takes into consideration 60 measures of competitiveness and then separates the metrics into 10 categories, weighted based on how frequently each is used as a selling point in state economic development marketing materials.
Maryland received its highest score in technology and innovation, ranking No. 5. The Old Line State also ranks No. 10 in workforce. When it comes to education, CNBC ranks Maryland No. 16, a fall of 10 spots from last year.
