Maryland Casinos Generate $93.4 Million in Revenue During June

Maryland Lottery and Gaming today announced June 2016 revenue numbers for the state’s five casinos – Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore in Baltimore City, Casino at Ocean Downs in Worcester County, Maryland Live Casino in Anne Arundel County, and Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County. June 2016’s combined statewide revenue totaled $93,365,919, up 2.1% from June 2015.

Casino contributions to the state go to the Maryland Education Trust Fund and also support small-, minority- and women-owned businesses, local impact grants and the state’s horse racing industry.

Hollywood Casino Perryville generated $5,986,996 from both slot machines and table games in June. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $200.63 for slot machines, $2,147.88 for banking table games and $311.06 for non-banking table games. Hollywood Casino’s June 2016 revenue decreased by $448,949, or 7%, from June 2015. Hollywood Casino Perryville operates 850 slot machines and 22 (12 banking and 10 non-banking) table games.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore generated $24,446,954 from both slot machines and table games in June. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $204.95 for slot machines, $2,224.01 for banking table games and $897.88 for non-banking table games. Horseshoe Casino’s June 2016 revenue increased by $1,350,238, or 5.9%, from June 2015. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore operates 2,202 slot machines and 178 (153 banking and 25 non-banking) table games.

Maryland Live Casino generated $53,699,355 from both slot machines and table games in June. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $270.55 for slot machines, $4,338.25 for banking table games and $1,100.01 for non-banking table games. Maryland Live’s June 2016 revenue increased by $773,232, or 1.5%, from June 2015. Maryland Live Casino operates 3,923 slot machines and 206 (154 banking and 52 non-banking) table games.

Casino at Ocean Downs generated $5,068,555 from slot machines in June, and its gross gaming revenue per unit per day was $210.87. Casino at Ocean Downs’ June 2016 revenue decreased by $220,222, or 4.2%, from June 2015. The Casino at Ocean Downs operates 800 slot machines, and does not have table games.

  1. All they do is generate enough income to keep people in jobs but no extra for the children.

  2. Low paying jobs so the employees have to get welfare benefits to make ends meet. The only ones benefiting by the casinos are the operators. The tax payers are again footing the bills for their employees while they make a fat pay check.

When Ocean Downs Casino first opened there was a $600,000 winner and has not been one since, but, as shows here, just in June they took in $6 million dollars with no big winners, and every month they take in millions. It seems odd to me that there has never been another big winner since it opened.
