As Republicans across the country try to coalesce behind their controversial presidential nominee next week, Gov. Larry Hogan won't be among them.
Some deride the Republican governor for his repudiation of Trump. Some forgive him. Some agree with him. Others are baffled that he couldn't stay quiet.
The disagreement has exposed fault lines in Maryland's minority party and its leadership at a time when its fortunes are turning — with popular Hogan at its helm, record numbers of Republicans in local office and its best fundraising in more than a decade.
Hogan is one of two sitting Republican governors to disavow their party's presumptive nominee this year and one of only two Republicans elected governor in Maryland since 1966.

It's Hogan's right, as a citizen of this Country, to decide who he'll support. I don't hold it against the Governor. Others undoubtedly will.
ReplyDeleteI hope Hogan realizes that we don't need someone like "Clinton" in office and that Mr Trump is the man to vote for. Don't let the republican vote split. Vote for Trump.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that this upcoming election will be most important if only for the case of replacing a Justice on the Supreme Court. For that reason alone, I will vote for Trump, or whoever the more conservative choice may be.
ReplyDeleteIt is his right to vote for whomever he chooses, just as it is anyone's, but, as Republican governor, I think he should have kept it to himself if he can't support Trump. I pray he'll change his mind because the alternative would certainly not be good!
ReplyDeleteO'Malley already forced me to flee Maryland. I don't care what Hogan does.
ReplyDelete9:23 I get it and agree. But he has another agenda attached to this and should be honest with us so those on the fence are given the information to make the right decision for themselves instead of following this fool.
ReplyDeletePoor governor, there is no making the extremists happy.
ReplyDelete“Whatever Hillary Clinton’s faults, she’s not ignorant or hateful or a nut,” wrote Mark Salter, who was a senior strategist to Arizona Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign. “She acts like an adult, and understands the responsibilities of an American president.”
ReplyDeleteIf only he'd kept his vote to himself...
ReplyDeleteYou mean there's a rumble between the Republicans in Name Only and the real Republicans? What a hoot. Time will prove Hogan is on the wrong side of history. Looks like he may end up a one-termer.
ReplyDelete11:43 You really that out of touch with reality?
ReplyDeleteHe should have kept that information between him and the ballot box.
ReplyDeleteNot supporting Trump is actually supporting the HildaBeast.
Fact!
We don't want that BEEYOTCH elected to anything other than a prison term!

I disagree. When he made the choice to run for governor and he won he lost a lot of his right to be just a citizen. He is a representative now and again one of his own choosing. Since MD GOP voters choice Donald Trump, Hogan should be there. If MD voters has gone for another candidate then I could understand, but they didn't they chose Donald Trump. Hogan is action like a sore loser and not a leader. It's not his personal feeling that should be in play but the will of the MD voters. He is showing his true colors now and they are ugly.
At this point in time I wouldn't want him to attend. He is a jerk and is acting like a child. He is a sore loser and the little man that he is needs to grow up and start acting like an adult. The voters spoke and because he doesn't like it he's pouting. I agree he is showing his true colors and it's his way or no way. He should be that way with the democrats (which so far he hasn't) but not with the MD Republican party.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a big Hogan fan. Now I just want him to shut his pie hole. I have lost a lot of respect for him
ReplyDeleteHogan's mistake was not telling the press to go @#$% themselves when they asked him if he was voting for Trump. His business only.
ReplyDeleteHogan / Culver
ReplyDeleteThe new Rino party.
I like him better now because he shows that he has principles and integrity to stand up for what is right.

ReplyDeleteI like him and you a lot less
Hogan isn't about to follow the herd off the cliff.

You are arse backwards. He is void of all principles and integrity and is nothing but a politician. All he is doing is showing he doesn't support the will of the people and that pal shows a complete lack of both qualities. He's all about himself.
can hogan say one term? unless of course he changes his party affiliation to democrat. remember you seen it here first!
ReplyDeleteLooks to me like another Democrat hiding behind a Republican mask.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but laugh at all of you morons who are now on the anti hogan train. You do realize he has been great for Maryland? I suppose you would have been happy with Anthony Brown?
ReplyDeleteHogan is a moderate, or as you call him, a RINO. That's fine with me because I understand that there is no way a tea party nut job would be elected governor of Maryland. Hogans actually done a tremendous job trying to roll back some of the O'Malley policies.
Hogan didn't divide me on the Republicans at all. If anything, he galvanized why I won't be voting for him when his term is up. By then, a real Republican will have a chance to gather their thunder to challenge his place on the ticket. One would think after Eric Cantor, politicians would get the clue that they're not replaceable. Guess Hogan will be added to the heap that shows us just how much there are.
ReplyDeleteIts actually very simple. Either you support Hillary and her socialist agenda or you oppose it. Mr. Hogan has made a clear choice.
ReplyDeleteMaryland's Republican Party is so full of RINO's it's a wonder Hogan was elected! We here on the Shore see this, but over the bridge they think he's a radical right winger. Hogan very simply is a RINO when measured against true Republican values and agendas.
ReplyDeleteThat Chub Tub has lost my vote. He lost my vote when he made the MVA take the legally owned license tags of descendants of Confederate veterans.
ReplyDeleteLarry Hogan is a Turncoat P.O.S. that is a true RINO. I pray that a good Republican runs against him. The only way he will get my vote is if he wins the Primary. He will not get my vote in the Primary. We don't need anyone that is to stupid to keep your mouth shut and thoughts to yourself. How difficult is it to keep your mouth shut and avoid a controversial question. He screwed over all Republicans in Maryland with his comments on Trump. He thought he was doing the right thing by recalling those SCV plates, but guess what? They have wives, friends and family members that vote.
Stupid is as stupid does.
