FBI Raids Peninsula Internal Medicine In Salisbury
At 11:22 this morning I text law enforcement asking if they knew why this business was being raided, I never received a response. The next thing we knew, (out of nowhere) all the news crews were starting to arrive and even flying a helicopter, ("where drones can't go") overhead. Boxes were being removed, customers were being rejected entrance and the business was shut down. Why, we don't know. I guess we'll have to wait for a press release to get the details since law enforcement refuses to now work with us after the Cecil County States Attorney exposure the other day. Connect the dots...
I find that hard to believe also Mrs Burns did not give me anything unless absolutely necessary asked for my Xanax to be refilled one time & she refused
When they raid, they gather everything, even dust particles, because there could be drugs in there... They take a long time so they don't miss things and so it waste as much time and money as possible, it is also a show of force because anyone inside was either handcuffed or stuck in a room not to talk or use the bathroom until they are done... It happens all the time in raids...
To 2:51 PM, law enforcement never reveals anything, half of the time they are lying to begin with... The question is how many FBI Agents and trucks were there??? Usually they will come 20 Agents deep with 5 to 10 trucks...

I worked for a office that committed Medicare fraud in va it's not hard to do but the office isn't going to be the only one in trouble the biller knows it's wrong and should have reported it a long time along.
Wow this is crazy. I go there, and I'm like everyone else what's going on?. I know they have always been good to me and always got with my insurance company for not trying to pay for stuff that is in my policy for them to pay for. This is crazy

We use to go there until they tried to charge double for a appt,they charged us and Medicare I had to fight them to get my money back. They also did blood test on my husband and when he asked for the results they couldn't find them, but charged him $436 for the test.
I have been going to this office for over 7 years they are professional and take time to hear what you are feeling they have never just given out any medication for no legitable reason. They care for their patients. Let's stop throwing stones until we know what really happened. People could be losing their jobs great nurses and Drs could b disbarred this is a place where you can just walk in and b seen by profession caring staff so everyone take a breathe and stop speculating and calling them thieves remember it could b one bad apple
Whomever you are thats been foing there 7 years, i am happy you have not been ripped off, double charged, or charged for services you did not recieve like many have.There is no speculation, its facts. One bad apple my behind.To whomever said someone is jealous of the money she makes, see a family member struggle for years to pay bills for charges they knew nothing about until they were in collections hands. Or friends struggle with addiction in the family because of pain killers given knowing there was a problem. I work for EVERY penny i make and spend. I dont need to steal from govt funded programs. I am content in my life and I dont brag about what I do or dont have. I have worked hard and earned it. There was no family to hand me down things.
Left there after some bad experiences with rude staff, esp Missy. Also some questionable charges. Tried to get my records transferred to new primary for 2 years. Finally gave up. That place was TERRIBLE! !!

I heard from a person that worked there they were fraudulent and the person kedt because of it..and that this has been in the making/under investigation for some time..this is why that person left. They handle alot if consumers with special needs/dda

FYI, you can go to the Maryland Board of Physicians website and look up any physician licensed in this state. It will show you any major malpractice settlements as well as reprimands, etc, by the board.

This is 100% accurate! I just cut off by my family doctor for monthly Px for two herniated discs and spinal stenosis. Dr at Hopkins won't operate for fear of being able to correct one problem making the other worse leaving me some days barely able to get going!!! Guess what I could take 1/2 pill or a whoke pill for the day and get up moving around doing things now 4-6 Tylenol minimum guess my kidney function doesn't matter to them

One of the last medical/dental jobs I had before I retired noticed right away when reviewing accounts for collection saw there was $30.000 that were posted to accounts showing debit balances when inquired from the office mgr why the patients insurance paid and the patients paid and no refunds issued was told they knew what they were doing. I was told if patients didn't request refunds when they got their eobs and double payments had been made that was their problem. When I left there I printed out a list of patients with double payments, their phone numbers contacted them and advised them to request their overdue refunds, also notified , the insurance companies and that specialty board what had happened (never heard from them)! This right here in Salisbury.
Who is looking at MY medical record right this moment and will I be able to get my file transferred elsewhere once this is ove...whatever it is....I am worried about my records and seriously personal information!!!!

i don't know whats going on there and i'm not gonna pretend to...but i will tell you this...insurance fraud would not surprise me in the least. a few years ago i went to them and my insurance was billed for things that was not done. i kept calling their office and would get hung up on and or would not call me back. Finally i had enough of it and went to my person that handles my insurance at work and i also called my insurance co. My insurance com went after them. They do indeed blood work there or they did when i went there. And also billed for blood work that i did not get done there. The kicker is they would not even try to talk to me about the bill. I would get hung up on. I understand that mistakes happen but this was no mistake, for if it was they would have tried to clear it up, they did not. After my insurance co got involved is when it was taken care of. So fraud??? it would not surprise me in the least! And if that is the case i'm glad they finally got caught with their hands in the jar and i hope justice for all the fraud that was done and not caught. If they did me, rhen no doubt in my mind they misbilled (no accident) others to and they may not have caught those errors as i did and some would have just let it go instead of fighting it like i did...wrong is wrong...don't bill me for things that i didn't get...i will go after them just as they would me.
Cass that's not always true. There are things that happen that do not always show up on these lists. It's sad that this did happen to a office in this area but if you are frauding or doing anything else illegal then you deserve to be caught. It makes no difference of who you are! But we don't know yet as to what happened. So wait for the facts to come out. Joe stay on top of it. We the people want to know what was going on.

I went to that office a few years ago and was appalled at the service. Yes, you could 'walk in' but you would walk in to a waiting room 20-30 deep with Medicaid and Medicare clients which is fine but now it all makes sense right? I know my care was subpar. I ran away from that place like I had been set on fire. Oh the stories that could be told. Just be careful who you screw on your way up the ladder. They're the same people that you'll meet on your way back down.

Maybe the people screwed over contacted their insurance providers and the insurance providers contacted the Feds like they should have. If there was not enough proven facts, the feds would not have gotten involved. They couldnt get a warrent without enough circumstantial evidence that something was wrong. Dont blame the victims, blame the accused. So if you want to "out" anyone, "out" the one who got caught. Sadly this happens all the time in many practices. It takes time to prove. If if this instance is fraud then yes, from a medical perspective Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement most often is less than costs of services provided, some offices actually take a huge cut for treating certain patients!

This gentleman has been practicing medicine 42 years? That in itself should have sent up a red flag. If you're still practicing medicine after that long its definitely about the money either you a pompous ass and can't get enough or mismanaged. Secondly between the physicians and Px companies medicine is no longer about actual HEALTH CARE it's just about the Benjamin's. How can a doctor justify taking 100,000 from Px company to promote their product knowing what this type of big business mentality will do to the public. To see elderly people have to pick and choose what the can afford or take it half as it was prescribed. The doctors are crying it's the governments fault, really?? There aren't many nurse practitioners who can buy 2.5 million dollars worth of property over the past 2-3 years in cash. No mortgage. Check out Maryland property records if you don't believe it. Some in her name and others placed in other family members names. As always, follow the money. Pediatric neurosurgeons don't even make that kind of money.
I am very saddened by this. I have gone there for 10 yrs and my doctor has always been caring, concerned and just wonderful. The staff seemed low budget and a little sketchy. Is it possible Drs were in the dark on this?? Im just hoping this is a big mistake.

this is not about dr. passeri although he is the doctor there. He's as honest as the day is long. It's the thief Candy Burns and her little sidekick up front I believe her name is Misty that are doing the Fraud. they were billing my insurance company and a whole lot of the others for services that were never done. Billing all kinds of stuff when you went in for 5 minutes to get a prescription refilled.if you tried to ask them about it or try to get it corrected they were ignoring you wouldn't answer your phone call nothing.all the patience to get together and discuss it. it was all Candy Burns and her greed. And when it's all said and done trust me when I say it's going to be in the millions. She will be going to jail for a long time as she should.
Pasari is the doctor, not that that is relevant since in this state and 29 others NP's can own the practice and stand alone without a physician. As a healthcare provider in this community, sadly, this is not shocking in the least. The Burns' have been crooked people for my entire life and this is not the first time it has caught up to them. The list of things that Candy has done to people, including past employees who tried to leave only to have her threaten them with litigation, is very long and nasty. Biff brags all around town about the money his wife makes, and it has been common knowledge for years the amount of fraud that she was committing. The only thing shocking is that it took this long for the FBI to get involved.
I know for a fact dr. passeri had no involvement whatsoever in anything Administrative Billing payroll hiring firing nothing. That's the way he wanted it. And of course that's the way Candy Burns wants it. Karma gotcha.

I was a patient there and have been double billed, test show up on my statements from insurance that I never had. Visit charge when I only went to pick up papers. I never reported her. I just found another doctor. It has to be sometype of fraud. She was a phony ass bitch.
If you want to go after someone for Insurance, Medicaid, Medicare Fraud they need to investigate the Salisbury Fire Department for their billing practices. They bill for every person they transport as well as charge $100 or more for the fire engine response as a medical assist. Medical insurance fraud? Much of the paperwork is fudged and most of the transports could go by car. They have been making fraudulent charges for many years and have been very successful at it. Why do you think they keep getting anything they ask for? Why do you think they keep buying all these new fire trucks and ambulances? Because they are ripping off the tax payers, the insurance companies and the federal government and have been doing it for the last 30 years or longer. They billing company knows this a plays a part in it. The Mayor and council knows this, but but they don't care because it is a large revenue stream. They love it and they are all crooked. I wouldn't take my dog to see Dr.Ronald Passarri let alone go back to him for anything. I had blood test results come back,he was acting like he didn't know anything about it,He acted like he was disappointed that I had good results.He asked me how many prescription I was on.I told him only one, that information was right in front of him.H e also asked other medical questions that was right in front of him.His attitude was very cold toward me,I felt like he was mad that I wasn't needing more prescription. He try to say I need another prescription,but when I had questions about it, he say never mind it's not that bad.That was two years ago, had blood work done since then no promblem with anything.So I wonder how many prescriptions are prescribed and are not really needed.I requested nt to see that Dr.after my visit. He made me very uncomfortable.
I switched from that office to Chesapeake Family Practice a few months back. I just knew something shady was going on and I chose to not be apart of it. I'm more than happy with my decision to leave and now I see why people say trust your gut.

This is very sad news..I went there and loved going there everyone was friendly .I left TLC when my Dr.left TLC to work at candy burns office (jean Lawson) jean is an excellent Dr..(crpn) now I'm left with no refills I am a diabetic high blood pressure.. I'm not sure what to do other then find a new Dr..I've had multiply back surgeries...I DO NOT BELIEVE AT ALL JEAN LAWSON PLAYED ANY PART OF THIS FRAUD AT ALL..I'm hoping and praying none of this is true...I'm definitely gonna miss going there..And as far as any narcotics they didn't give or write any scripts at all they wouldn't even write a script for cough syrup when I had bronchitis..

NO i will not apologize because what happened to me there, really happened...regardless of the out come of this investigation. and I will not apologize for something that really happened. They tried to fraud my insurance! But didn't get away with it. NObody will treat me that way and get away with it...i'm glad i left there, i love the doc's im with now....and it wasn't just about the billing it was how i was treated when i tried to question it. you don't hang up on people when they call you about your billing...you try to get it settled....i guess they thought i would just pay it and let it go? Well they thought wrong! Nobody deserves to be treated like i was...NOBODY!
The one thing that seemed strange to me was, why wouldn't a doctor's office want top quality staff in the front office? Anyone ever notice the staff that worked here when you walked in? Low class, made me wonder if they even knew how to spell their own name, let alone anyone elses. They had no idea how to explain what the heck was going on, probably why so many people got hung up on when they questioned anything about charges. Don't know what's going on here but probably not good. If office does open back up, Candy does need to do something about that front office staff, at least hire people that look like they know what the heck they are there for.
I have been with peninsula internal for some years now and I have never had a problem. I am treated very well when I visit and call. Oh FYI they are back open today because I had an appointment there and I went. People shouldn't assume things until you have the facts. If it was that bad then why are they back open less than 24 hours later and with a room full of patients. Thanks PIM
FBI took what they wanted/needed and they don't care if they are open or not at this point. Good thing they are open for not only patients but also to salvage whatever they can of this business. Employees need to get paid and bills incurred by this business need to get paid. IF medicare/medicaid fraud has happened this place will go under within 6 months.
My mom used to say,"Where there's smoke, there's fire." I was touched inappropriately by Shirazzi and inappropriate remarks were made... but I knew no one would believe me. Finally, a few other ladies did have the courage to file charges. I don't know what happened to him but I hope he is not still practicing somewhere in the world. Also, Candy would change your Rx dosage without telling you. I found out when I got to the pharmacy. Her PA did the same thing. What a disrespectful and unprofessional way to treat someone. When I called the office to inquire as to why this happened. Misty hung up in my ear. Sounds as tho' from previous posts, that is her M.O. When I questioned the RN as to why my insurance was being billed for something I had no knowledge of, it was quickly dismissed. I usually take a wait and see attitude but I had already seen enough not to find these recent events as shocking.

went there for a few yrs not shocked to see this one of the Pa's there almost took my life in 2013 she only cared about herself and how she looked to Dr i seen a lot of stuff go on in there !!! some of the nurses I've talked to outside of the practice they left there when i did one is why i'm able to type this message !!! Dr at Hopkins won't operate for fear of being able to correct one problem making the other worse leaving me some days barely able to get going!!! ReplyDeleteOne of the last medical/dental jobs I had before I retired noticed right away when reviewing accounts for collection saw there was $30.000 that were posted to accounts showing debit balances when inquired from the office mgr why the patients insurance paid and the patients paid and no refunds issued was told they knew what they were doing. I was told if patients didn't request refunds when they got their eobs and double payments had been made that was their problem. When I left there I printed out a list of patients with double payments, their phone numbers contacted them and advised them to request their overdue refunds, also notified , the insurance companies and that specialty board what had happened (never heard from them)! This right here in Salisbury.

Deletei don't know whats going on there and i'm not gonna pretend to...but i will tell you this...insurance fraud would not surprise me in the least. a few years ago i went to them and my insurance was billed for things that was not done. i kept calling their office and would get hung up on and or would not call me back. Finally i had enough of it and went to my person that handles my insurance at work and i also called my insurance co. My insurance com went after them. They do indeed blood work there or they did when i went there. And also billed for blood work that i did not get done there. The kicker is they would not even try to talk to me about the bill. I would get hung up on. I understand that mistakes happen but this was no mistake, for if it was they would have tried to clear it up, they did not. After my insurance co got involved is when it was taken care of. So fraud??? it would not surprise me in the least! And if that is the case i'm glad they finally got caught with their hands in the jar and i hope justice for all the fraud that was done and not caught. If they did me, rhen no doubt in my mind they misbilled (no accident) others to and they may not have caught those errors as i did and some would have just let it go instead of fighting it like i did...wrong is wrong...don't bill me for things that i didn't get...i will go after them just as they would me.

If there was not enough proven facts, the feds would not have gotten involved. They couldnt get a warrent without enough circumstantial evidence that something was wrong. Dont blame the victims, blame the accused. So if you want to "out" anyone, "out" the one who got caught. Sadly this happens all the time in many practices. It takes time to prove. As a healthcare provider in this community, sadly, this is not shocking in the least. The Burns' have been crooked people for my entire life and this is not the first time it has caught up to them. The list of things that Candy has done to people, including past employees who tried to leave only to have her threaten them with litigation, is very long and nasty. Biff brags all around town about the money his wife makes, and it has been common knowledge for years the amount of fraud that she was committing. The only thing shocking is that it took this long for the FBI to get involved.

I was a patient there and have been double billed, test show up on my statements from insurance that I never had. Visit charge when I only went to pick up papers. I never reported her. I just found another doctor. It has to be sometype of fraud. She was a phony ass bitch.

They bill for every person they transport as well as charge $100 or more for the fire engine response as a medical assist. Medical insurance fraud? Much of the paperwork is fudged and most of the transports could go by car. They have been making fraudulent charges for many years and have been very successful at it. Why do you think they keep getting anything they ask for? Why do you think they keep buying all these new fire trucks and ambulances? Because they are ripping off the tax payers, the insurance companies and the federal government and have been doing it for the last 30 years or longer. They billing company knows this a plays a part in it. The Mayor and council knows this, but but they don't care because it is a large revenue stream. They love it and they are all crooked. I had blood test results come back,he was acting like he didn't know anything about it,He acted like he was disappointed that I had good results.He asked me how many prescription I was on.I told him only one, that information was right in front of him.H e also asked other medical questions that was right in front of him.His attitude was very cold toward me,I felt like he was mad that I wasn't needing more prescription. He try to say I need another prescription,but when I had questions about it, he say never mind it's not that bad.That was two years ago, had blood work done since then no promblem with anything.So I wonder how many prescriptions are prescribed and are not really needed.I requested nt to see that Dr.after my visit. He made me very uncomfortable.

I'm not sure what to do other then find a new Dr..I've had multiply back surgeries...I DO NOT BELIEVE AT ALL JEAN LAWSON PLAYED ANY PART OF THIS FRAUD AT ALL..I'm hoping and praying none of this is true...I'm definitely gonna miss going there..And as far as any narcotics they didn't give or write any scripts at all they wouldn't even write a script for cough syrup when I had bronchitis..

NO i will not apologize because what happened to me there, really happened...regardless of the out come of this investigation. and I will not apologize for something that really happened. They tried to fraud my insurance! But didn't get away with it. NObody will treat me that way and get away with it...i'm glad i left there, i love the doc's im with now....and it wasn't just about the billing it was how i was treated when i tried to question it. you don't hang up on people when they call you about your billing...you try to get it settled....i guess they thought i would just pay it and let it go? Well they thought wrong! Nobody deserves to be treated like i was...NOBODY!

The one thing that seemed strange to me was, why wouldn't a doctor's office want top quality staff in the front office? Anyone ever notice the staff that worked here when you walked in? Low class, made me wonder if they even knew how to spell their own name, let alone anyone elses. They had no idea how to explain what the heck was going on, probably why so many people got hung up on when they questioned anything about charges. Don't know what's going on here but probably not good. If office does open back up, Candy does need to do something about that front office staff, at least hire people that look like they know what the heck they are there for.
ReplyDeleteI have been with peninsula internal for some years now and I have never had a problem. I am treated very well when I visit and call. Oh FYI they are back open today because I had an appointment there and I went. People shouldn't assume things until you have the facts. If it was that bad then why are they back open less than 24 hours later and with a room full of patients. Thanks PIM
ReplyDeleteFBI took what they wanted/needed and they don't care if they are open or not at this point. Good thing they are open for not only patients but also to salvage whatever they can of this business. Employees need to get paid and bills incurred by this business need to get paid. IF medicare/medicaid fraud has happened this place will go under within 6 months.

ReplyDeleteMy mom used to say,"Where there's smoke, there's fire." I was touched inappropriately by Shirazzi and inappropriate remarks were made... but I knew no one would believe me. Finally, a few other ladies did have the courage to file charges. I don't know what happened to him but I hope he is not still practicing somewhere in the world. Also, Candy would change your Rx dosage without telling you. I found out when I got to the pharmacy. Her PA did the same thing. What a disrespectful and unprofessional way to treat someone. When I called the office to inquire as to why this happened. Misty hung up in my ear. Sounds as tho' from previous posts, that is her M.O. When I questioned the RN as to why my insurance was being billed for something I had no knowledge of, it was quickly dismissed. I usually take a wait and see attitude but I had already seen enough not to find these recent events as shocking.

Check out the peace orders both for and against people. They ALL love to fight. It may be one of the kids issue with someone and the whole dam family shows up. Forensic accountants will expose the committed acts of fraud, and Burns and Paseri will pay for their fraudulent acts. In addition the ring leader of the staff and any accessories will be exposed.
