Baltimore police fatally shoot man who fired at officers

BALTIMORE —Baltimore police fatally shot an armed man who they said was firing at officers Thursday evening.

Baltimore police Media Relations Chief T.J. Smith said four plainclothes officers were in an unmarked police car in the area of the 2300 block of Winchester Street when they heard gunfire around 9:30 p.m.

"They actually heard gunfire. When they heard this gunfire, they drove toward it at one of the apartment buildings on Winchester Street. They drove into the parking lot and they saw a man armed with an AR-15-style rifle, firing that weapon. He was firing that weapon and he turned that weapon toward officers and started firing the weapon toward officers and the officers returned fire," Smith said.

Smith said the armed man was struck at least once in the upper body. The suspect fled into an apartment building and was found on the second floor. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

  4. That is not a bumpstock. The weapon is a pistol actually.

  5. It's not a bump stock, it's an AR pistol. Note the short barrel. You are not allowed to put a stock on a pistol because it's illegal to shoulder an AR 15 pistol.

  6. Anyone that calls that weapon shown in the picture an "AR-15 Style rifle," has never seen an A5-15 rifle. What a bunch of gun control loonies in MD!
