THOMASVILLE, NC – A Maryland man was arrested Saturday and charged with the sexual assault of two juveniles in Davidson County.
Jaime Alberto Barba (Torres), 40, of 170 E. Main St. in Elkton, Md., is charged with four counts of indecent liberties with a child, two counts of first-degree sex offense with a child and one count each of first-degree rape of a child, statutory rape and first-degree sexual offense.
Barba is accused of sexually abusing two juveniles in 2008. The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office first began investigating on Feb. 5, 2008, after receiving a report, the agency said. Barba lived in Thomasville at the time.
The sheriff’s office said Barba was romantically involved with an adult family member of the reported victims. The agency issued warrants against Barba, who is accused of fleeing the area, the sheriff’s office said.
