Too Touchy With Horse
OCEAN CITY — A Catonsville man was arrested for interfering with a police animal last weekend after being told repeatedly not to touch an Ocean City police horse.
Around 10:50 p.m. last Saturday, two mounted officers were on patrol in the area of 17th Street when they were approached by an evidently intoxicated male, later identified as Joseph Goins, 22, of Catonsville. Goins allegedly asked one of the officers if he could touch his horse to which the officer responded “please don’t touch him,” according to police reports.
Meanwhile, another unidentified male approached the mounted officers and smiled at Goins, who then made a gesture toward the horse’s side in a petting manner. Again, the officer warned Goins not to touch the police horse. After Goins reached out to pet the horse, the officer placed him in handcuffs and arrested him on charges of interfering with a police animal.

ReplyDeletetotal bs! petting a horse is now a crime! wow don't tell the children!
Rubber bullets.
ReplyDeleteGestapo. Lucky he wasn't shot.
ReplyDeleteOC police willing hearts and minds.
ReplyDeleteSee what happens if you try to pet one of their Canine Units. Assault on a Police Officer. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteSorry cry babies you can't always do what you impulsively want to do ,There are rules in a civilized society and if you can't handle that maybe a move to a third world country is for you.
ReplyDeleteStop and think people! A police dog is trained to react to certain commands and if you rush up there and "want to pet the doggy" you cant. Your gestures make the dog react, LIKE IT WAS TRAINED TO DO. The same goes for horses. They dont go to Assateague and put a saddle on a horse and ride it on the boardwalk now do they?
ReplyDeleteGood arrest. Don't let the junebugs try to push you around OCPD.
ReplyDeleteBut they let kids pet the horses! They're the peoples horses! If the mounted patrol isn't walking or dealing with a situation then they most certainly need to allow people to pet the horses. put a hand on one and take a pic etc! Make the resort somewhat a remembered experience. Not like he was smacking the horse in the arse! This cop was just a fart hole!
ReplyDelete10:27. Do you know anything about horses? They're neck reigned or bit reigned! Some have learned tricks by certain pressure points! Police horses are trained to be able to withstand touching, hands and objects waving about in their faces and even being hit without reaction! And k9 units are very well trained and only act on their handlers commands. nice try though. Wipe your chin! Got cop on it!
