Recently there was an Editorial in our newspaper from Mr. A. Higgins titled "Is our H.S derelict in its' duties?"
MD Law requires each County to collect & maintain information from each Kennel License issued, reporting to the Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation by 1st of July, each year. Ref: Senate Bill Number 839, passed in 2011. Information from the Bill is found at:
http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/2011rs/chapters_noln/Ch_297_sb0839T.pdf
Was this done ---- did the Humane Society report the Kennel to the County, did Wicomico County issue them a license? Where is that information?
It's probable most people are tired of hearing about the Puppy Mill Dogs , now that they are safe .
He stated he had reported the Puppy Mill Dogs to the Humane Society's past director, Mr. Fitzgearld , and Animal Control . Also stating nothing was done and was told by Mr. Fitzgearld , they were inspected on a regular basis / and they were in compliance with the Law.
Common sense tells us, these dogs horrific living conditions and health issues did not happen over a short time frame and neither could a population of over 300 dogs .
Thanks to Mr. Higgins , it's now known -- " Others were responsible for horrific neglect of the animals. "
It will be of interest as to what Mr. Maciarello and County Exc. , Mr. Culver will be doing now that it's a know fact this Mill "had been previously reported ." Through further investigation , viewing all reports from Mr. Fitzgearlds' inspection dates of the Mill dogs , etc. , checking if these people held a License in Wicomico County ---which I've "heard" they did not, and interviewing all the neighbors who reported the Mill, should bring forth "more truths" about those --who need to be held accountable as well as the Murphys'!
Our Humane Society had been warned by Dorchester County the Murphys' were moving here.

It cannot go unsaid what a wonderful job was done by our New Director , his Staff & the hundreds' of people who offered their free services plus the outpouring of help from our community!
However , punishment for "All " who were responsible for the needless / prolonged suffering of these animals should be dealt with ---not just the Murphys'.
Thanks again to Mr. Higgins for letting the public know "truths." He's to be commended! With his information given---the question remains--

Will something be done to "set new by- laws" for our H. S. so this disgusting act of pure negligence of job responsibilities will never happen again and will those who this "Mill" was reported to at the H.S. & Animal Control " be held accountable as well as the Murphy's?
I am hoping this to be resolved , as it should be by All responsible parties.
What do you think?

Fitzgerald should resign from his new county job period or be terminated for the least of insubordination and neglect of duties.
ReplyDeleteAlso Gordy and Littleton and Molnar need to go also. When things like this happen under these peoples watch over and over its times for them to go.
Only if all them animals had a say in this.
Absolutely the Humane Society and Animal Control should be held responsible, if in fact, as the neighbors say, this was reported many times. What I cannot understand is why an agency would lie about anything to do with a puppy mill, other than they didn't want to deal with it. Well I certainly hope those who were responsible at the time have to 'deal with it' now in court.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this article, this was something that existed for years, and I like others was raising the question why did the neighbors not complain, we now know they did repeatedly, and they were lied to and ignored. If I had been one of those neighbors I would have been taking pictures and recording these dogs crying all night. People need to be punished with heavy sentences, the ones that carried out the cruelty and the ones the offenses were reported to. Let this not die until real justice is done.
ReplyDeleteThe puppy mill should never have happened and it is the direct fault of Fitzgerald. He should have been fired very soon after the discovery of the puppy mill. He has shown what a useless POS he is who has cost the county, the state and the tax payers a lot of money. His family's heads need to be dragging the ground in shame over what he allowed to happen to those dogs. He's a disgrace.
ReplyDeleteThat has been my argument all along but some other troll kept crying... it doesn't matter since they have all been rescued".
ReplyDeleteI firmly have disagreed with that statement saying this never should have happened in the first place if Fitzgerald had done his job.
But alas, nothing will ever be done about it. Good old boys, politics and family connections will see to that.
I guarantee you, nothing will come of it.
Fitzgerald still has a county job now dealing with people?
ReplyDeleteIs this the same Mr Fitzgerald on the BOE?
ReplyDeleteCulver needs to terminate Fitzgerald!!!!
ReplyDelete8:00 NO,NO,NO,It is NOT the same Mr. Fitzgerald on the BOE!
ReplyDeleteThis puppy mill and others were reported to HS long before Mr Fitzgerald was director. They have been derelict in their duties for a long long time.
ReplyDeleteFinally , thanks to Mr. Higgins coming forth
ReplyDeletewith evidence ----those who read Joes'
Blogg will
KNOW exactly what has been going on &
like one reader said---neglect at the H.S
had gone on for years before our New Director
came in. I think we've finally got agood one
this time .
Hopefully this will not die & our officials
wil "go after the others to blame " for those
animal prolonged suffering.
It's disgusting to think Mr. Fitzgearld now
holds a Couty job too! He should be made to
pay our Cty Attorney for prosecuting him instead
of using Taxpayers Money to do so.
