Well, when you publish such a story/editorial and you only get ONE comment and you conveniently refuse to tell your readers that such mentioned comments in the HUNDREDS are on Salisbury News and are in fact public, that explains a lot.
When you refuse to INVESTIGATE as to WHY they "won't face charges" you'll come to learn that Maciarello and Lashley stated they won't face charges, "AT THIS TIME".
Considering this is a Main Stream Media source, it amazes me that they have conveniently left out quite a bit to this story and sensationalized it in the hope of garnishing a reaction from the public. HOWEVER, there's only ONE comment as of 8:30 this morning for an article/editorial that went public yesterday morning.
Perhaps the public is finally getting wise to the fact that the Daily Times is now worthless, seriously. I mean, if you can't garnish a strong REACTION on a very public story, well, that's really bad and speaks volumes. It is also unfortunate that the little amount of their viewers don't know the whole truth because the Daily Times failed to deliver it.
As I have explained in several comments, Maciarello cannot file charges against these two individuals. It is out of his hands UNTIL Lashley actually charges the suspects. Once they are charged, (if ever) it then falls into the States Attorneys hands. Until then, Maciarello is smart to remain silent on this matter.
If you want to express opinions you need to do so towards Salisbury University and their Police Department and not the States Attorneys Office.
Ok question
ReplyDeletewhy can't Matt interview the 7 suspects ? it's on a public college .
DT is not mainstream. They are out of touch in every way.
ReplyDeleteThe Times is a circling the drain. Incompetent and bias reporting is their hallmark these days. No one views them as a credible source.
ReplyDelete8:46, Because Matt is not a law enforcement officer. It is Lashley's jurisdiction and responsibility. It is Matt's job to determine IF the evidence is strong enough to take on the case and bring it to court.
ReplyDeleteOk then how about exposing also SU president Janet eshbach she is the SU police chiefs boss she has dropped the ball and she also had a racial incident in the past maybe she is doing Nothing because she doesn't want that thrown out there in the public again so she is trying to sweep it under the rug Joe,post that old story on her it's on the internet than the PEOPLE will understand what's going on?.
DeleteJoe I have to disagree with you on this one. Lashley and Matt let this walk if you did not expose the truth. I know you have respect for these two clowns. You did the right thing. If no public awareness this goes no where.
ReplyDeleteThey Ed & Matt are now under the gun to do the right thing. They are both doing damage control because they got bitched slapped back into reality. ALL LIVES MATTER. You allow these suspects to walk and you send a resounding message that it is o.k. to put both races in fear. Whites and Blacks alike were put in fear as this unraveled. Of course there was no actual violence involved. It was a psychological attack on kids in college.
Matt and Edwin got caught with their hands in their pockets whistling Dixie. They can try all they want to clean it up now. The bottom line is look how long you knew about this and nothing was done. Enough said.
The court room is not about winning and losing only justice. Let a judge and or jury decide. Matt knows darn well there are charges that fit the bill here.
9:10, You may be 100% correct but in the very least Maciarello is being attacked almost 100% on this matter and Lashley next to 0%. Matt can fall back on the no charges filed to date and he's clean. However, you cannot say Matt is in the wrong when there is procedure, protocol or whatever you want to call it.
ReplyDeleteMatt has an office to run and his job is very different from law enforcement. Stop making Matt out to be some kind of Police Chief. He is a States attorney, period. Big difference between the two.
HEY chief lashley of Salisbury University police you have some explaining to do ,you sir are not doing his job so the States Attorney can do his are you taking lessons from the SPD police chief Duncan you know look the other way so not to alert citizens and college parents $$$$
ReplyDeleteBAMMMMMMM.
DeleteSU chief lazy is passing the buck to the student body ?.
DeleteThe bottom line is it fall on the President of SU, she carries the ultimate responsibility of leadership. Lets sit back and see if she carries out those responsibilities. Might be waiting for a long time. If this gets swept under the rug, there's simply no justice for those of us that work and pay taxes.
ReplyDeleteWith all of the crime out there. Erase the drawing and move forward. I am glad the police are not wasting another taxpayer dollar on this.
ReplyDeleteObviously a Obama liberal.
Delete944 your ignorance is hard to ignore.
Delete9:44 Only if they erase all the other graffiti, like the chalk Trump 2016 and so on, without a word. No media play for their fictional "hate crimes", nothing. Just ignore ALL of it and it will stop, once they no longer get the attention they want.
DeleteWriting Trump 2016 isn't a hate crime! It's for potus, it's political! That's stupidity, however I do believe something needs to be done to the black children who did this! If it would have proven to have been done by white children, THAT would have been considered a hate crime! If everyone can't say the "n" word, then no one should! Especially considering it does not mean black person! I'm so sick of this stupid shite! People are people...race, sex, creed and religion should NOT matter! ALL LIVES MATTER!
DeletePainful???? I felt relief and happiness that this was done by blacks because it shows a lack of racial tension when they have to manufacture it falsely.
ReplyDeleteThe names of the students involved need to be published and they should be stripped of their right of attendance. These people are not minors and their intent was malicious.
I'm Black and agree.
Delete9:44 - If they do not spend it now they/we will be spending much more later. Use your head please.
ReplyDeleteI spoke to a man in the Collegfe Administration who said that the case would be taken up by a Student Board of some kind, and that the public would not be told of the outcome.Apparently expulsion is not on the list of punishment
ReplyDeleteNot since Obama enacted treat AA different than everyone else, thank God trump will end this soon.
DeleteHow can students be in charge of students and not the police absolutely BS.This is smoke and mirrors so the POLICE DON'T TAKE THE HEAT.
DeleteIt is BS. The student review committee is in charge of disciplining for things like off-campus parties etc but this is clearly a hate crime matter meant to incite racial tension between black and white students. It was not a prank. Not in this time. This is a matter for law enforcement campus, city and state. By letting this go Eschbach is only promoting its continuance. Otherwise called, Accessory.
DeleteThis information is inaccurate. Police agencies forward investigative findings to the states attorneys office in cases like this and their office can provide advice and guidance and advise whether or not they will pursue the case in court after considering the totality of the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteLashley needs to be held accountable along with Dr. Dudley-Eschbach. She is derelict in her duty to guarantee ALL students' safety not just her chosen minirity group. Maybe it's time to send this matter and her handling to the Board of Regents aka HER bosses.
ReplyDeleteplease post that info.

Joe, would you want to admit that the states attorney is a place to express opinion? The states attorneys office would advise the police department whether or not the incident fits a crime and that their office will proceed forward with charges. Even if police charge on their own, the states attorneys office can not prosecute it and drop charges... stop trying to protect the states attorneys office and have everyone focus on the police. The correct decision seems to have been made anyway and there will never been full support either way but it shouldn't be implied that the police need all opinions when a collective decision was more than likely made.
ReplyDeleteok so why is the Student body in charge of discipline when this is clearly a hate crime to incite violence at the college ? this is being done ALL over the county so AA have a excuse to riot with BLM now that they are caught and there black its quietly brushed aside by the SU CHIEF if there is no issue Y does the student body have the Case ?? because the SU police chief and president are down playing this.
DeleteThe "student body" doesn't have the case. Educate yourself first and contact the university and ask how student affairs handles code of conduct violations. I guarantee you the deciding factor is not the student body. Or, just keep posting what you think is going on and act like there is some a hate crime when there isn't. Hate language, yes but a crime, no....
DeleteIf whites did this, would it be considered hate language or a hate crime?
DeleteSeems to me, since the college is part of the community, and in the county of Wicomico, this does fall under the jurisdiction of the local state attorneys office. The college does get taxpayer money, so it is partly a government entity, and therefore, under county jurisdiction. Using the excuse that the college has it's own police and rules, means that it is separate from the community, if it is, then when the call the local police for help the cops need to be paid for by the college then. They can't have it both ways.
ReplyDelete1127 the campus police have their hands tied by Eshbach all the time as PR is her thing. She doesn't want parents or perspective students to know the truth about the dangers students face in Salisbury or the racial tensions that continue to bubble with incidents like this left unchecked. That's why I suggested we all complain to the Board of Regents and let them deal with her and the problem with her governance.
Delete1000% correct.
DeleteIf you want to deal with this snake you have to cut off the head. Meaning the president needs a referendum. She's the one responsible for allowing behavior. Live lead learn what a bunch of horse hockey.
DeleteDave T: Joe I think you are finding out that nobody is reading the Daily
ReplyDeleteTimes anymore, hence the reason for such a weak response. Their chickens are coming home to roost ! When you feed the public a diet of published garbage, it becomes inevitable that in the end your publication will be widely abandoned and unable to sustain readership due to inability to provide what readership is seeking -- useful information. The big difference I see between Daily Times and SBY News - Daily Times claims to be a news source, SBY news IS a news source. It's that simple. One wants to be what the other truly is.
Nothing happens at the campus judicially without a weigh in from Eschbach. Ultimately, she is responsible for both not informing other students of these incidents (and yes, there were others) as well not seeking out justice on behalf of the whole student body. Students should be aware of these issues as well as violence around the campus done by thugs. She doesn't like this publicized because it hurts the school's appearance of being a safe haven for northern parents placing their kids here.
ReplyDelete11:22, Yes, once the Police are PREPARED to press charges, it is up to the States Attorney to review those charges and evidence at hand.
ReplyDeleteGuess what, Lashley CONVENIENTLY has TWO alleged suspects, of which neither is admitting to the sketch/drawing. The Chief is claiming they do not have solid evidence as to which one of the two actually did it.
All that being said, Maciarello cannot do ANYTHING without the charges against the suspects. I'd sure Lashley went to Maciarello with what they had and Matt advised them that he did not have enough evidence, (AT THIS TIME).
Maciarello is NOT going to waste the courts time with a case that isn't solid, period.
So if you want to point fingers, point them at Lashley and the Dean.
I am currently investigating a similar situation in another state where the Students and community held rallies against a college Dean for a very similar incident and the Dean was fired. I will publish it just as soon as I have everything I need. The Dean refused to press charges in a hate crime.
Oh Geez, did I just give the EBT Blogger and the Daily Times inside information to another big story? LOL
So let's.put together a protest in front of SU Joe.
DeleteNow that's responsible reporting.
DeleteYour right, he can't do anything without charges against the suspects, however, it was most likely their decision (the states attorneys office) that there wasn't sufficient evidence at this time. If the states attorney believed it to be a cover up of sorts, he could subpoena records etc. He could also have the states attorney investigators conduct an investigation in to the matter and follow up. So if the states attorney is taking the university's word for it then one would assume that he has faith in the steps taken. If he didn't have faith, then one should question why further wouldn't be done on the part of the state's attorneys office with subpoenas etc... my opinion- there is nothing hidden. It's a hot topic right now and there appears to be no further proof available
DeleteI have dealt with Matt for years. He is a politician like all the rest of them. There's an old saying that a states attorney can indict a ham sandwich. If Matt wanted to he could charge both of them and conspiracy as a fail safe. He didn't because it's not what the school wants, bad publicity. So it's not what Matt wants. He wants to get reelected. He stands on a soap box talking about justice and then does nothing to attain it.
DeleteMatt is a guy that fired half of his staff because he simply didn't like them. He thought they were conspiring against him politically. He's another big head, just like Mike lewis, and all the other dunderhead political suck ups around here. Corrupt brown nosers, washing each others backs.
DeleteSalisbury would be Detroit if it weren't for SU and the money they funnel into town. It's my belief that they ALL want this swept away as quietly as possible before mommy and daddy decide against sending their children to a social justice circus for $100k.
ReplyDeletelol ok it already is fool its just being covered up by SPD police chief,SU police chief SU PRESIDENT, and the burys mayor Jake Day,all to hide it from the clueless parents and there $$$ .
DeleteThey aren't exactly suspects without merit. You have to sign out those study rooms because they are used by faculty members, too. You have to check with circulation because a room could already be reserved. Meaning they've known who the culprits are all along.
ReplyDeleteIf the campus is a state school on state property, state jurisdiction should prevail. Leaving things up to an educator in this case is imprudent as this case clearly demonstrates.
ReplyDeleteHate Crime should always be prosecuted without prejudice whether peeps are black or white. Them there's the rules.
ReplyDeleteDave T. 11:32, Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhen they have only ONE comment on such a big article it clearly tells me their subscribers are not only in their 70's and beyond, it also tells me no one is viewing their Website any more.
I think it's high time our State and Federal Government start allowing public notices on Blogs instead of Newspapers no one reads any more. The Daily Times charges up to $7,000.00 for a Foreclosure Ad. Calculate it the next time you see several pages of those ads. They get, (on average) $250.00 to $300.00 for an Obituary. It's time to change that and let us compete. I also think we should ALL be forced to show our daily, weekly, monthly or yearly on line traffic in order to sell ANY ADS.
I'm confident once everyone sees what we do vs. everyone else they'll quickly change their advertising habits. This is why WBOC has commercials, LIKE US ON FACEBOOK. Get this free Weather Ap. They are DESPERATE for Internet traffic. I can also tell you that they are running numerous and filler N/C commercials because they're having a difficult time selling them any more.
Now, do I wish this on them, absolutely not. However, I will say this. You have never seen us promote LIKE US ON FACEBOOK or even Twitter or anything else. Our traffic is HONEST and EARNED. Do we pull crap like the other Blogger where you are refreshed every 15 seconds without you even knowing so they can make it look like they're getting more hits, NO, we do nothing of the sort.
The tell tale, (in the end) of who is doing what is COMMENTS. Compare us to ANYONE out there and you'll see we blow them away.
Years ago we used to see a lot of comments like, we saw this or that in the Daily Times, WBOC or even the other Bloggers. We haven't see anything of the sort in YEARS. Someone mentioned Michael Schwartz the other day and I haven't heard his name in quite a few years.
It's time for a change. It's time for our Governor and Legislators to give credit where credit is due. Finally, funny how the above mentioned come a runny to SBYNews when they need something out there immediately and know it is getting to the masses. It's time our hard work and more than a decade of dedication get rewarded.
12:26, You need me to hold your hand? Why is it always Joe to the rescue?
ReplyDeletePerhaps, and I stress that perhaps, there isn't enough evidence to convict. But., they can, and should, be charged if for nothing else then to force a financial burden upon them. Make them pay to prove their case.
ReplyDeleteYes, it will cost the taxpayer but we have payed for much, much more frivolous BS before.
So I guess you people commenting want a race riot? Just keep poking the hornets nest. There are bigger fish to fry than some kid writing something on a whiteboard. Im off to incite violence with my sidewalk chalk and Trump signs.
ReplyDeleteHuh who is it that wants a race war ? Obama ,holder,Sharpton, blm, black Panthers, thugs,CNN,I say bring it on.
Delete1256 could you be anymore of an ignorant if you tried? Perhaps it would be better if it escalates and they burn your house down before you wake up the baby steps to massive unrest. Keep that head in the sand ostrich. Your butt looks ripe for the kicking.
DeleteMy son went to SU about 20 yrs ago {if you ask where he went to college he will just shrug his should and talk about something else). This has nothing to do with it but he graduated with a 4.0 average. Freshmen are not allowed have a car on campus, he drove a old Ford Escape, paid $50 to park at Horner Honda, 2nd week there school police called and someone had ripped him off took 3 of his rims and tires. I went to help him. He had asked campus police to do a report sorry they said off campus, Called salis pd and here they came sirens blowing, lighs flashing got out his car ours was sittimg on its frame and asked me which car had lost tires. I lost told him to please go away,
ReplyDelete110 I'm an alumn too and this incident among many are the reason I avoid telling people where I graduated from. It's an embarrassment. I also don't donate to the school. Never will. They don't deserve it.
DeleteI think what we want is equal treatment.
ReplyDeleteHaving worked for blowhard Lashley, I know nothing will happen. If a white person perpetrated this action, he would be all over it. Grandstanding and trying to make an example out of the terrible whites. All the while, smoking his cigar and pounding his chest in front of his buddies in his "shade tree club". Lashley is the most racist and vindictive little biotch I have EVER met. Ask any white person who has ever worked for him. Classic case of affirmative action at its worst. Not enough evidence? Lashley couldn't find his azz with both hands. You will NEVER have enough evidence if you make excuses and purposely try to make it go away because it doesn't fit your "agenda". If it weren't for Ernie Leatherbury SR, Lashley would have never been more than a Tfc.
ReplyDeleteJoe. You still don't get it. The local population will moan and complain until the cows come home but will not do anything constructive to solve the problem. They get all fired up about an issue for a few days and then it is on to the next thing. All talk - no action.
ReplyDeleteThe only reason this story gets attention is because it is a racial issue involving SU. Otherwise, most don't have any connection or interest in SU except to complain about the liberal teachers/students.
Dave T: Keep up the great work Joe and thank you ! For all that you do for this community. You are NOT poking a hornets nest. You are reporting news and exposing an issue that other members of the media are not. Too bad other people don't offer more respect and appreciate the hard work that you are doing. So I will voice my gratitude just so you know there are some who recognize what you are doing. And, shame on Gannet Publishing for allowing their local paper to become a rag operated by a group of partisan puppets. It is a pathetic display to see these folks posing as journalists while attempting to manipulate the news rather an report it. Great job SBY News, you are setting a standard that other new agencies could only wish to uphold.
ReplyDeleteDave, in reality Gannett has pretty much closed up shop here on the shore. No reason to continue other than the losses are good to offset profits. That's probably why they keep feeding the office here. Loss liter.
DeleteIf you didnt have social media, 85% of you wouldnt even know about this, nor care. It was a drawing, no one was injured, no buildings were destroyed, no businesses were robbed. Do you people get in this big of an uproar when you see graffiti?
ReplyDelete"You people"??
DeleteIt's black people who get in a huge uproar over the tiniest thing they can construe.
One would think that, with his "college degree", Lashley would know the RIGHT thing to do. Funny thing is, his college degree is as worthless as chewing gum on a parking lot. Ask any Trooper, who worked at Salisbury Barrack. They will tell you who completed all of Lashley's "course work" and wrote his "papers" for his "degree". Hell, ask the person themself. They would never lie. Integrity? Lashley has no idea what that means. He rode that "degree" for all it's worth. For every promotion and job application. Was it HIS work that earned the degree? Ask around and make up your own mind.
ReplyDeleteThey have video and names, but can't tell which one it is....that's racist because "they all look alike"!
ReplyDelete2:01 I like the cutting off the head thing. Let some white boys cut off the head of a fake black kid, and watch how fast they go to jail!
ReplyDeleteDave T: Thanks. Understood.
ReplyDeleteOK then, I will backtrack on my prior comment. Ed Lashley you are BS. It seems that you are retiring (again) so you don't want to make waves, especially with the AA community. This is total BS and the perps should be identified and, if appropriate, charged.
ReplyDeleteI thought it wasn't really called Salisbury University Police Dept, but they are "campus security".
ReplyDelete918 you're absolutely right. If a white person had done this the would have been indicted and convicted of a hate crime. SU practices reverse-discrimination all the time. It's absolutely sickening considering most of their minorities are from other countries, which do not pay taxes in the US. Dr. Eschbach should be ashamed of herself and her university's handling of these matters. Someone should sue them for that reverse discrimination.
ReplyDeleteJoe you should post the law on R.R.E. crimes. I think it fits the bill. The suspects are the wrong color is a major problem. The law is designed to protect minorities. So I guess under the law they would have to be other then Black. I don't know it all sounds like a cover up. Just the way it was handled. If you had not brought this out we would have never known about it.
ReplyDeleteIf they were white, they would be in jail & charged with a hate crime. Now you know it. & I know it.
ReplyDeleteThe comments that the states attorney can't do anything without the police, meaning charging people because they recieve a complaint or statement of charges from the police is false. The states attornies office has its own investigator with police powers. Although, he is also a brown nosing turd, ex sheriff's office WBI sergeant. He couldn't investigate his way out of a paper bag. So it's no wonder.
ReplyDeleteGetting really tired of people condone stupid behaviors behind some reparation crap for something that happened over 150 years ago. Black people sold black people into slavery. While it might not be cool that white landowners bought them, in that time period it was expected. None of the kids today were slaves and very few of them are descendants of slaves, so they need to get over it. My ancestors didn't immigrate to America until long after slavery was abolished yet, because I'm white, I have to put up with this garbage. I'm sorry there were slaves here but notice no one is talking about the 500,000 black slaves still slaving in Islamic countries. Where is all your outcry and bleeding hearts for them?
ReplyDeleteAmen!
