Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot says "foot-dragging" on the part of Baltimore city and county officials are keeping them from doing the right thing when it comes to air conditioning in public schools.
"It is a public health issue, it is an education issue," Franchot told C4 Thursday.
On Wednesday, Franchot and Gov. Larry Hogan were the decisive votes in a 2-1 Board of Public Works decision to withhold construction funds from schools in both localities until they address the outstanding air conditioning needs.
"At some pooint you get tired of begging your fellow politicians, and begging bureaucrats, to do the right thing," he said, accusing local politicians of a "mass dereliction of duty."

ReplyDeleteMore political stonewalling by the city and county! These politicians want to be sure their crony friends get the job and not the lowest bid, they can only do this by following the their old standard for getting bids!
