A Viewer Writes: African Studies

Does it strike you as odd that with so many African Studies majors out there, so few (as in virtually none) of them do anything to actually help Africa and Africans?

  1. Because after studying it, and seeing that it hasn't changed in 2000 years, whats the use in even trying.

  2. Trying to instill western culture and values on tribal societies is pointless. How much success has it brought American Indians.

They have only found success, generally speaking, with casinos.

  4. 6:07 really? and where did you come up with that theory? No one "instilled" anything on the indians other than poverty and segregation.

They outwitted western culture and found a way to become successful despite what we did to them.

Not sure where you got your edumacation but it is not worth the paper it is printed on.

  5. 6:07 despite what you think, some tribal societies are happy just the way they are and do not need to be brainwashed into our consumable society.

Everyone doesn't have to live like you do.

The person who wrote this doesn't know what they are talking about in relationship to helping Africans. They are trying to be snarky.

Also, the Native American situation is an extremely complicated one. not to be understood by a couple of one liners.
