On April 15, 2016, members of the Child Advocacy Center will participate in Third Friday by staffing a table on Salisbury’s downtown plaza. There will be face painting and games, as well as prizes. Staff will also be available to answer any questions about the CAC’s mission and how we serve the children of Wicomico County.
The Child Advocacy Center will also host an open house on April 27, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a banner presentation at 1:00 p.m. During the open house, members of the community are invited to tour the CAC and speak to staff about their different roles as part of the CAC team. Light refreshments will be provided.
The Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center is a multi-agency organization comprised of law enforcement, including investigators from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police and Salisbury Police Department; two prosecutors from the State’s
Attorney’s Office; Child Protective Services workers from the Department of Social Services; therapists from the Life Crisis Center; a victim advocate who serves as a liaison for affected
families; and a physician who conducts physical examinations in the on-site medical suite. The CAC investigates sexual and physical child abuse complaints, as well as neglect allegations, with a team-based approach in an effort to minimize trauma on victims and their families. The CAC is located on the first floor of the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office in Salisbury. The fence outside of the CAC will be decorated with blue ribbons during the month of April, as blue ribbons are the national symbol for child abuse prevention.
