MINIMUM WAGE IDIOCY

EVEN ITS PROPONENTS KNOW IT DOESN’T MAKE “ECONOMIC SENSE”

The news that California and New York have embraced new $15 an hour minimum wage laws is being hailed as a victory for the “progressive” movement.

“This is a real watershed,” Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton said during a press event with Empire State governor Andrew Cuomo. “I know it is going to sweep our country.”

Let’s hope not …

This website has consistently rejected government efforts to impose a minimum wage. We simply don’t believe in the efficacy of the concept – nationally or in our home state.

Why not?

  1. They need the hike in wages to afford the bus ticket to the city to do the scut work for the elites.

  2. 813 spoken like a true moron. First of all, that little hike is going to COST jobs not save them. Second, those elites are the ones that lay their own personal finances on the line so dreg like you can have a job in the first place. Third, this also means more jobs go away like to Mexico or China because the wage is too high here. Fourth, if you had any sense at all, you would realize that people making $15 an hour STILL cannot support themselves much less a family even working a 40 hour week. Please go get your milk and cookies, apparently you're up way past your bedtime.

  3. 1118 you forgot that the minimum wage raise will throw a lot of these critters off welfare, too. Meaning they won't get SSI benefits anymore. Savings for taxpayers but the worker is screwed unless the reduce their hours in order to be paid what they were before which led to them getting SSI bennies. Creeping socialism at it's best.

  4. Minimum wage should be zero. What you have to bring to the table will be paid for accordingly, hence the purpose for a good education.

    Unfortunately,...

  5. Raising the minimum wage benefits only on group of people in the labor force.

    That group is labor unions.

The vast majority of union contracts have their wages pegged to the minimum wage. Government raise the minimum wage through legislation, union members get a raise without renegotiating contracts with management.

Government employees unions really love it because union management doesn't have to argue as hard to get wage increases.

  6. Teenagers living with their parent with no job skills should not be making 15.00 an hour flipping burgers.
