Trader and Davis Sell Cherokee Lanes

SALISBURY, MD, MARCH 2016 - Matthew Trader of Rinnier Development Company and Chris Davis of SVN recently brokered the sale of Cherokee Lanes bowling alley in Salisbury, MD. Trader represented SouthBound Alley LLC who purchased the property from Cherokee Inc. for 1.15 million. Cherokee Inc., who was represented by Chris Davis of SVN, had owned and operated the Alley for the past 27 years. Now for the first time in nearly 30 years, Cherokee Lanes is under new ownership.

The new owners have BIG plans for the Alley, both long-term and short-term. Their long-term goals and plans for the alley include a remodel, which will include a full service upscale restaurant & bar in addition to the eventual name change to SouthBound Alley. In the meantime, they have immediate plans to begin transitioning the alley to better service the community that include: installing brand new arcade games, adding new kids programs, remodeling the restrooms, providing a cleaner facility, new landscaping, adding a full drink menu to include craft beers, wine and liquor and a new food menu to include paninis, sandwiches, wraps and appetizers. The new owners also plan to increase league bowlers with current leagues, while adding new leagues as well.

Owner Danielle Murray, who has been in the restaurant industry for 30 years had this to say, "Our focus is to be a family oriented entertainment and dining facility. We want to offer great food, great service and a great time!". Owner Chris Van Sant adds, "We are very excited to be taking over a business that has been a staple of this community for over 50 years. We certainly see the potential of what it can be once we add our combined 50 plus years of customer service experience. We have tons of ideas, short and long term, but our major focus right now is to provide the best service possible, while offering an already great product."

Chris Davis says, "I'm very excited about the plans that the new buyers have for the bowling alley and I cant wait to bring my family there to experience the new environment that they are going to create."

Matthew Trader comments, "Like most people in Salisbury, I grew up going to Cherokee Lanes, so this deal was very nostalgic for me. For those wondering about what the Alley will be like under new ownership, I will tell you flat out, that it is in good hands. In my entire career I have never seen a group of buyers more persistent and determined than SouthBound Alley LLC. They are proof that you can achieve anything you dream of if you're willing to work for it. It was an honor to work with them and I truly believe they will make SouthBound Alley something that our community can be proud of for a long time to come. I also would like to add that none of this would have been possible without the services of the buyer's attorney Arlette Bright. She really played a huge role in putting this whole deal together.

Rinnier Development Company owns, manages and/or has developed more than 2 million square feet of commercial and residential real estate and currently manages an investment portfolio of over 1.4 million square feet. Rinnier has provided quality service to the Mid-Atlantic community for over 75 years with nationally recognized award winning communities.

  1. this is fantastic news. everyone i know goes to either Laurel or pocomoke to bowl because this alley is dirty, the lanes are poorly maintained and most importantly, the staff are unprofessional and act like you are bothering them when you come to bowl. Cant wait for a new bowling alley is salisbury!! exciting!!

  2. I don't know ow many times I've ridden by there and remarked to my wife what a goldmine that place could be.

I guess somebody else agrees.. :-)

As Briscoe P. Darling would say.. "More power to them."

  4. This is great news. My son has bowled with the Cherokee Youth Bowling league since he was 7 and loves it. If you haven't bowled in a while, give it another try. It's a fun.

  5. going to take a lot of money to repair and replace all the neglect that has happened at those lanes. Good luck, though. I hope you have deep pockets.
If you don’t do it right, the bowlers that left will not be back.

  6. I'll go back if the old owners are not involved in any way. They were the rudiest and most ignorant people.

  7. They have already started pissing off league bowlers... raising beer prices by 25%, bringing in craft beer that bowlers do not drink, and raising food prices. What the league bowlers want, which is their money makers... are better lanes. Hopefully they can do that. It will be a learning process I am sure and hope they listen to concerns of the league bowlers.

  8. come on with what? maybe 8 or 10 lanes this place will never be more then it is. go to seaford and look at the operation up there. Now that's a bowling alley! typical salisbury eastern shore mentality!

  9. Both of Seaford bowling lanes have closed in recent years, and I understand the newer Laurel Alley was up for sale ?

  10. I'm excited to see this place brought back to life. There are plenty of people in this town who enjoy bowling and aren't a part of a league. Offering a wider menu and bringing in the upgrades will definitely draw from a bigger pool of people. Can't wait! By the time this place is redone, my boys will both be old enough to enjoy the game..should be exciting times!!!
