Donald Trump canceled his Chicago campaign event Friday amid safety concerns as hundreds of protesters clashed with supporters at the event, which was held on the campus of University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion.
The Trump campaign issued a statement at around 6:40 p.m. local time.

Thank you very much for your attendance and please go in peace,” the campaign said.
The cancellation led to cheers among the protesters, many of whom were chanting out the name of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
by Trump’s supporters responded with chants of “USA! USA!,” according to The Daily Caller’s Eric Owens, who was on scene at the event.
